AEM CAI installed, got a couple of ?s

I had 2 vacuum caps, I only used the one to plug on the IM when removing the resonator/valve. Is this just an extra cap?

Also didn't get the proper hose which goes from the intake to the valve cover.. instead I got like a 2" one..WTF..
My car also hesitates even more noticeably now, anyone else have this problem? I'll try to reset the ECU once more and see.

haha, I just did this today too with my iceman. Holy **** what a ***** to get the resonator out. I think it took me 3 hours to get all of that crap out of there and the Iceman in. Since I don't have an AEM, I don't know what they gave you in the kit but I think you have it right. The hose that went to the resonator can be plugged at the IM. Is there a nib on the intake right by the throttle body? If not, you should leave the hose that connect there unplugged.

AS for the hose to the valve cover, I just got breathers. Can't you attach the 2" aem gave you to the existing hose and then to the intake?

oh btw.. you might want to dremel some of the metal around the bottom of the intake and might mistake it for exhaust rattle or something... also try using a rubber tire thing around the opening...

haha i just took a small hammer to mine just to make it a tad bigger. then pushed it down, it fits quite snug so no rattles

I already had a generic Short Ram on the car, so I don't think I messed up the install..
I just had to remove the resonator, which was suprisingly easy after removing a couple of bolts on the bumper so I could get a rachet/extension to remove that sneaky 3rd bolt on the resonator. Followed the vacuum from the resonator to the box, then to the IM, where I capped it.
Used a dremel to enlarge the hole, treated it with rustproofing and mounted the CAI.

Yeild- what did you do about the fast idle thing? that's the vacuum line that came over the top of the IM/TB. my iceman didn't have a hole for it- was it supposed to?

Ya there is no hole for it. From everything I've read you can just leave it uncapped. Supposedly if you cap it you'll get a surging idle. if you're really anal about it you could make a whole in your iceman but I wouldn't worry about it. I just capped the resonator hose.

just an update... i think the ECU was still re-learning, it feels much much better today. I've got to admit, seat of the pants says I got some low-end back, definately a lot punchier at 2-4k rpm over the generic SRI, hard to tell on the topend.. will find out Friday tho..
