I received my new B+G coilovers today along with some other suspension stuff, and decided to take the day fixing up the suspension on my newest prelude. The car was WAY to low for my taste and handled like crap. When I removed the front suspension I noticed the shocks were leaking fluid. They were shot. The bottom end of both shocks were cracked from bottoming out. When I disassembled the units I was surprised at what I found:
This is what was left of the drivers front bump stop.
This is the remainder of the passanger side front bumpstop.
This is what the front of the car looks like now. Before, the wheels were tucked and the tires were rubbing the crap out of the wheel wells. I have the coilovers set to about 1.5 lower than stock in the front and about the same in the rear. This is a much better ride for a daily driver. The coilovers are a bit stiff, but not bad at all. I also replaced the rear sway bar, and all the bushings. Feels like a new car.
I had never seen bumpstops in that poor of shape, especially the front left. if your car is slammed, and is feeling like it's riding in bricks, then you might want to check out your bumpstops. I sent the Koni's out to Truechoice for repair and revalving. So, I'll have a set of them sitting around. Much better over all.
