I really didn't like the current options for hood dampers on the market today, so after alot of thought (and trial and error), I was able to put together some hood dampers that fit our cars. Its completely plug and play, no drilling at all. It also opens the hood up a bit more than the prop does. Enjoy!
thanks guys...yes those are real CF...heres a closeup pic...
first of all, that is NOT an OEM hood...it is a CF hood.
second, the hood dampers WILL work with an OEM hood....we tested a set on another 4th gen prelude with a stock hood and it works fine...
lastly, since there is very little room in the rain channels, the hood sits on the hood dampers when closed...as a result, the hood no longer sits flush along the fender...I will try to take pics of the actual gap on an OEM hood...
CF hoods will have this same issue (mine did)...so what i ended up doing was the spacer mod (the one that makes ur hood look open when its actually closed)...this way, when the hood is closed, it looks like the gap is intentional (and since we have those 2 vents by the headlights, i think it really does help keep the under hood temps down)....
as far as anyone interested in possibly purchasing a set, I am going to talk to people over at NRG on Monday and see what they say. So please sit tight.

If we have enough interest, it might be possible for NRG to make some kits for the Ludes....
in regards to the 5th gen, i believe it was already done using some dc2 hood dampers right?
I still have a set of custom hooddampers for the 4gen lying around... bought them from an Australian guy over here.
Still haven't got the time to install them properly... paid an arm and a leg for them.
It's a set that works with a different kind off attachment to the hood, you have to drill two holes and rivet the mount on.
When spring begins... I'll try to mount them, finally

well in that case... i'd like to see some more pics of the hood closed before i set my heart on buying them
Wow, that's a pretty sweet mod! It really gets rid of the ugly hood prop. Yeah, but I would be concerned with the hood being slightly propped up when closed. So I probably wouldn't do it lol. I'm all about cleanliness when it comes to mods.
heres a pic of how my car looks with the CF hood closed...remember tho that I am intentionally running ~1/4" spacers behind the hood mounts to "lift" the hood up in the back...
Sorry for the crappy pix...i will take better ones when i get a chance...
as for cost, its a little tricky because I had to piece this together using parts from various applications...
for those concerned about the fitment, i worked really hard to try to make this fit WITHOUT any drilling and this was the only way it would work...however, if you dont mind drilling/hacking, then I am pretty sure that you can make them fit without having the hood gap issue...
i would just go with the tein or any other dc2 kit just a littel bit og grinding to the hing and you drill one hole and your done
thats correct...you would also have to be aware of the plastic lining that sits where the firewall is...that will definitely be in the way, so you will have to trim that to make room for the damper body....if you plan on keeping the dampers along the edge, then you will have the gap issue, as the damper body itself doesn't fit into the space...i personally don't care for the green tein ones, thats why i went with the NRG ones...NRG has them in both carbon fiber and polished...
I guinea pigged myself, those dampers will not fit perfectly, I had to do some grinding down with my hood and also relocated the fender bolt, it still did not sit flush due to the pistons being so thick, So I took a wild guess and Guessed that the tein dampers were thinner, I was right. I kept the ebay damper mounts in there and just swapped the pistons and BAM, fit perfectly with room to spare.
