ABS question

My ABS pump unit died a while back...yeah that part that costs about $1400 to get new from Honda. I won this auction on ebay, simply because I want my ABS back, tired of the ABS light, and I think $88.00 shipped is a steal even though it's used, as long as it works.

My question is will I need to replace that ECU (i guess it's called the module) looking thing with the yellow label also, or just the pump unit? Any help would be appreciated..thanks.

pretty sure you just need to replace the pump. You might reset the ABS ECU to give it a clear head

Heh, I;ve met that guy in person, he hooked me up with a replacement VSS when I busted mine. Seems like a cool guy, don't know much about Honda;'s though.

As to your question, you should only have to replace the pump motor/accumulator assy and reset the ABS ECU and you should be set. You will prolly need to bleed the ABS system though which requires the special Honda programmer. I would suggest replacing the motor and then bringing it into Honda and having them bleed the ABS.

Good luck,

Any idea how to reset ABS ECU, and when replacing the motor I'll be fine driving to the Honda dealer so they can bleed the ABS system?

holy **** that thing is a hell of a lot bigger than i thought....

you should be fine driving, the ABS doesnt work all the time. as far as resetting the abs module, you should be able to just do it the same way as resetting the ecu, but undoing the battery

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe resetting the ABS computer is just as easy as restarting the car??

It couldn't hurt to unplug the battery for 10 minutes or so just to be on the safe side. Lots easier than ripping off some side paneling
