abs and my abs light

my abs light NEVER comes on. it never has. i was in a friends 4th gen, and i noticed that the abs light came on with the key in the ignition. does this mean that my abs is not working? i have tried to test it, and im pretty sure its not going. anyone know anything about this?

If the light never turns on (it should come on before you start the car) then the ABS is not operating. It is possible that the bulb is burnt out. It is pretty easy to tell when ABS kicks in (that annoying pulsing) in the brake pedal when you jam on it.

I personanlly have my ABS computer unplugged as my light came on and the repair was not worth it to me. I didn't like ABS anyways so no harm no foul.

HTH,

My ABS light is ON meaning it does not work (I know this because my wheels have locked up) and my friend had a little reader thing and the problem is my front right wheel sensor. When I start my car its off, but since its the wheel sensor, once I get to about 15mph it turns on.

if you ABS light comes on, you should check the fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Its a 7.5A fuse. Mine ABS light came on a few days ago, the fuse was gone, i replaced and it went away immediatly.

hey Marchall, what model lude to you have ? If its an S, then it doesnt come with ABS, i found out the other day cause a friend of mine just got a h22 swap in his S and mentionned that S model doesnt come with ABS. hope this help

Yea I checked that already but I'm positive its a real problem with the ABS because we checked the code (specifying a faulty front right wheel sensor) so hopefully they don't cost too much. I haven't checked into it yet.

I for one WANT my abs to work, as i think its a really good thing. hey tannie, how did you pull a specific code about why your abs isnt working?

If you look at your drive axle there is a ring that looks like a gear going all the way around the boot........it's hard to explain.....you see that section of the driveshaft that looks like it's coged...

Make sure it's nice and clean as well as the sensor....

The code can be pulled simply by jumping the service connector and reading blinks.

Since you don't seem to have a light I would check to make sure the bulb is not burnt out. I bet you will find it is and that is stays on while driving (indicating a problem). Then pull the code and troubleshoot.

HTH,

lol, if it brakes REALLY then you should be locking up every now and then As for the 4th noteriety with ABS problems, isn't it mostly a wheel sensor issue?

One of my good friends owns a car shop and he has this $5000 reader thingy for any car. Its awesome, it tells you where the service connectors are for the car, what the problem is, and how to fix it.

interesting... my old 94 VTEC had 173k miles on it... never had an ABS related problem.

Another thing, the ABS light will come on if the parking brake is left on for any extended period of time.
