ABS light on what to check?

My ABS light came on a couple days ago, I pulled over reset the ECU by turning the car off and waiting 30 seconds but it still came on. What should I check to find the problem, I am not experienced with ABS. I will take it to a shop if I can't fix it.

i think you can get abs codes just like you get from the CEL. its probably a sensor of some sort.

Just hope the ABS modulator didnt die on your car...happens to a lot of us 4th genners with ABS. It sucks, as that part costs 1400$ to replace. And without it, no ABS brakes. Have you tested your ABS brakes to see if they work?

no I haven't been able to test them yet, I never get them to go anyway except in the snow.

Checking the ABS codes is exactly the same as for the engine. Just bridge the blue connector under the center console behind the radio and instead of the check engine light flashing, the ABS light will instead flash.

btw did you actaully reset the ABS computer? as the engine and ABS are totally different..

just slam on the brakes real hard while driving. chances are you will induce a lockup and feel ABS kicking in

If the ABS light is on, your ABS is not working.

Most common problem in a wheel speed sensor, not to hard to replace, and not that expensive either, well, compared to the modulator anyway.

Check your code, ten post it up here so we can tell you what the problem is.

you don't need a code checker, just short the connector under the dash and the light will flash. the number and length of flashes is the code #.

I think the procedure is faq'd or something... lemme check

check your brake fluid levels in the reservoir, if they drop, the light will turn on. i had to replace my modulator and accumulator though....that sucked but i got a used one on ebay for $35 plus shipping.
