ABS light, easiest way to diagnose prob?

Just wondering, I am having the abs light on my dash in my 4th gen. I wanted to know how to diagnose this problem if anyone has any ideas, and how to fix it if possible.

Check the ABS code. Same process as checking the CEL code. Put a paper clip into the service connector that's behind the radio. Turn the key to 'On' and look at the flashing. It'll flash a number of times then pause and flash another. I just did my clutch and we accidently unplugged one of the wheel sensors and I found the problem by checking the code.

If you check it, post back here the code and I can look it up for you in the manual.

^I had that happen. Also if the wheel sensor is dirty it may come on. I just gave up on it though.

I just fixed my 93 Accord today by taking it to a car wash and spraying the h*** out of the back of my rotors which is where the sensors are. I read that if your light comes on when you first start the car and its still sitting then its something wrong under the hood, if it does not come on till you drive then its a wheel sensor and could just need cleaned. Mine only popped on after the wheels started to roll so I sprayed them. So far Soooo good!

Reach behind the radio, from the drivers side, and pull out loose wires, there should be two sets, one has 3 wires to a plug, and one has 2 wires connected to a plug as well. Take the one that has two wires, to like a blue plug, and put one paper clip into both holes so its looped. Then turn the key in the ignition till all the indicator lights come on, wait for them to come off. Then if there is a abs code, the abs light will flash. I think with the abs codes there are no long flashes, so like code 41 which is front pass side wheel sensor, would be 4 flashes, then pause then one flash.

I just did a high pressure spray behind the wheels/brakes. It lasted for a couple months then came back.

This is very very interesting. I have to try that paper clip method! Thats awesome. I thought I needed some kinda code reader or something to get codes. Im gonna try this within the next few days.

My ABS light only goes on after im driving, not when its just sitting them so im thinking its the wheel sensor is 94ludefunk is right about the sitting/driving thing.

yay for bring old posts back to life!

I got code 1 subcode 2 yesterday also. I will be trying to fix the problem in the next few days. I will be following the procedure in the manual. i will let you know what it takes to fix mine, hopefully its just a fuse or relay. I already hade to resoldier my main relay, 4ws unit, and climate control. so hopefully the relay just needs resoildered.

I didn't read through this entire post, but it could just possibly be a bad/loose relay. And easy way to test is to pull the ABS relay, and pull your headlight relay. Stick the headlight relay into the ABS, see if you're still have the same problem. They're not EXACTLY the same relays, but I've substituted them on several occasions.

I ran into a problem with this method. I used the paper clip method and i turned the ignition on but didnt start the car. Then i realized the abs light only comes on after the car is moving, not when i first turn on the car. is there a way to get the error code after i drive my car or maybe you can tell what the problem is from just that?

So it turns out that my pump motor is bad. Where can I get one of these? How much would it cost and is it worth replacing?
