my ABS light came on...i have really bad front rotors though...could the rotors cause my ABS light to go on or is there another problem?

if i were u id check the code then go a honda dealership and ask them what that ABS code means, they shouldnt charge u. if u ask them to check the code for you they might charge you cuz they will bring it into the gargae.

Check this out...

When you start your car...be very quiet and listen if you hear a ringing noise in the engine for about 15 seconds..then it stops and the ABS light "clicks" on.

If you do, then be prepared to spend $1500 if you want ABS brakes again. That problem happened to me, the ABS modulator/pump died...and for no reason. I feel like calling honda and complaining even though my car's a 95. Also, my master cylinder is dead so it causes my wheels to squeak when I drive since there is no pressure to completely release the brake pads and causes the brake pedal to sink all the down. Also, my stupid antenna got stuck!

My ABS light doesn't come on until I start driving.

To check your abs codes you do the same thing as checking your CEL codes.

Both the CEL and ABS lights will blink the codes for you. I've been fortunate enough to have both going at the same time doh!

Also, just about anytning that causes the red brake warning light on the dash to come on ( low brake fluid, faulty brakelamp bulb etc.) will also disable the ABS and later throw the ABS light.

It's probably your ABS modulator/pump that died out on you like I said. The light does turn on about 15 secs after you put the car on drive..

I have the same problem like prelude95... My ABS pump is dead and no joke $1200 - $1500 depending on their mood is what it takes to fix

I used to think that I didn't need it until last week when a focs passed me in the wrong lane and when I passed at 80mph and needed to stop asap while taking a sharp 30mph turn I really came close to a serious accident so to my fellow luders please be carefull...and its true what is up with 4th gen ABS systems??

my light comes on right when i turn the car on though...i have really bad rotors like i said...i just got new pads put on and i am going to need new ones soon but i am getting rotors and pads at the sametime...before i changed my pads my ABS light was on and then i changed the pads and it went away now it is back on and the pads arent that worn down yet...think my rotors could be the reason for the light?

Dude oh my god now that I read this I'm still shaken up from what happened just 15 mins ago//.

I thought I'd be fine without ABS brakes also but it's rainy outside and this idiot without seeing me was gonna change lanes. I was going about 30 mph and slammed on the brakes. The front wheels locked like nothing and the car seemed to take forever to come to a complete stop. Luckily he saw me (I guess heard the skidding of the wheels) and swerved back in his lane cause then I definitely would have hit him due to my damn ABS brakes not working.

Yes fellow luders without ABS brakes, please do be extra careful when driving, ESPECIALLY ON ICEY OR WET ROADS. $1500 is not a nice price to pay just for ABS brakes, even though they can save your life and car...heh

My car has been taken care of really well, probably much better than most of you that still have ABS with older models. heh

Man I hate honda for this. If the ABS modulator was cheaper, then I wouldnt mind, but $1200 for something so important that dies so easily for no reason at all!
