97 h22a4 non SH into a 96 si ?

Alright I tried searching found a lil info, but I?m still a little confused...
I?m looking at a 96 si with a blown engine, I have access to a wrecked 97 base manual, I?m considering doing the swap, but am unsure about this whole OBD 1/2 thing, I?m not planning on modding the car all crazy like, how hard/easy? Would the swap be, what would I need from the 97? Will the swap be reliable? I am pretty good mechanically, but I've never done anything like this, can I do it myself, or should I take it to a shop and let them do it?
Any help/ suggestions/ experiences/ advice will be much appreciated.
Eric

yes you can do it yourself, it's not very hard at all... just gotta have all the right tools and it can be done. i did it myself and the hardest part was the stubborn bolts and nuts. other than that... it was very easy to do. the write ups on this site along with a helms manual will guide you thru the process.

96+ preludes were obd2, so you should have no problem there.

you'll be needing the h22a4 longblock, the transmission, the ecu, and the wiring harness (not necessary, you can modify the wiring harness from your 96)

i think that's about it, you'll be using the rest of the stuff off the 96

by the way, while you'll have the engine out of the car, you might want to do some maintenance on it such as timing belt, changing all the gaskets and seals. it'll be much easier and will extend your engine life by a good amount
