96 VTEC not wanting to shift correctly. Please post any ideas

Ok so i bought my car a couple of months ago. when the car was originally bought it had the slight grind going in to fifth but no other issues. after a night of letting my dad borrow the car it would no longer go in to the position for reverse it was just like a wall was in the way. but while driving the car 5th gear was no longer grinding. after a week of driving like this reverse came back and 5th stayed quiet for the most part. I went ahead and changed the fluid to the Honda MTF. no shavings or odd things were in the old fluid. after a while of smooth sailing i noticed ALL of the gears get notchy whether the car was moving, sitting still, or off. when shifting with any sort of quickness the car will not take 2nd or 3rd. It just goes in to the position but is pushed back out as if there is a spring. no grinds just that... adding a little oil to the linkage smoothed out the notchiness some but the car still doesnt like 2nd or 3rd. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Technically, you are supposed to do a second drain and fill of the MTF 1000 miles or so after the first one.

Transmission problems are not easy to e-diagnose. You pretty much just have to open it up and look for bent or worn pieces. It could be your syncros are bad, a bent shift fork, or something equally fun to fix.

Have you checked your clutch fluid level and your slave / master cylinders for leaks?

the fluid level went down a few months ago due to a bad slave cylinder. the unit was replaced and the system bled twice. fluid has been steady at the full mark. i forgot to mention.. the problem isnt as bad when the car is cold but when its been driven for a few minutes it gets worse. this was weird to me because i thought problems like this normally were at their worst when they were cold
