94 lude vibration

when my car is in gear (automatic) and sitting there, it vibrates like hell. the steering wheel and mirrors jump around. what is causing this? my dad told me that it could be that the bottom of the motor and tranny are original to the DOHC non vetec and with a vetec head in it is just causing problems. car has 211XXX miles on it, H23A1, skunk 2 cams. please and thank you for helping

What RPM does it idle at ? How are your motor mounts?

it's the motor mounts if it's vibrating that bad. check the rear one first.

the smokingness is your rings

the rings require you to take out the entire engine, then take it apart, take out the crank, rods, and pistons and put new rings on the pistons... but if you do that, you might as well bore the block to make sure the pistons will seal properly instead of putting new rings in old sleeves.

i'd recommend just dropping in a new (used) jdm h22 engine.

for the mounts, pickup ES motor mount inserts, its all you need to fix those. there is a write up somewhere talking about how to install them.

I disagree.

I recommend picking up a new mount from ebay. They can be had for cheap. ES mount inserts WILL work, but they will make the vibrations worse.

jsmooney: good point, yes, it will vibrate equal or more.... but the ES mounts are a fantastic upgrade to get better launches off the line.

the vibrations go away as soon as you drive anyways.

I loved how tight my car accelerated after I put them in. - and I only put in the front one.

I agree 100%

the only thing to consider is whether or not you use the A/c when at idle. If you do, I would advise against the mount inserts. if you dont mind the vibrations...go for it. I have a set in my garage
