I am going to remove my a/c compressor on my 93 si, but until I can afford a new a/c compressor, I'm gonna bypass the a/c and just go straight from the crank to the altenernator with the belt. I was wondering if any body knows what size belt I should use. The guy from autozone told me to use a string and measure it, but I just wanna make sure I get the right size. Thanks, Mike
Yeah. Just bypass via smaller belt rather than removing it - definitely a better choice. The Autozone here told my friend to use a string as well ...seems a little redneck if you ask me. Good luck! Replacing that belt is fairly easy - just a pain the first time doing it. Where are you located? You may be able to find a replacement A/C compressor at a junkyard or something and do it yourself.

LOL yeah thats what I thought too,very redneck! Anyways I'm located in St.Louis,Missouri. I thought about getting a compressor at a junkyard also, but really the car is for my dad and he insist on getting a new or remanufactured one. I found a remanfactured one on ebay for $150 that includes a lifetime warranty as long as I install a receiver/drier as well. So we'll prolly go with that eventually(pops is still waiting on his tax returns...) Also I don't no if its true or not, but my cousin says the seals or something go bad sometimes if you buy one thats been siting for awhile. I just wonder if it be worth it to get one for $30 or so from a junkyard or wait for the ebay one, and how long do these compressor usually usually last? If it sounds like a good idea I might just do that. Also the car has 130,000 and I bought it from a friend for $500!....so we really can't complain either way...I'm also still waiting on another 93' si 5 spd I might buy for $1500, its suppose to be built pretty well, and the guy just got married and had a kid, so he doesnt have time to mess with it...
My car has just over 200,000 on it and the compressor is still going. It's been down in AL for prob 10 years or so. I would just get the reman on to be sure it works. Sometimes they just...fail.

Wow 200k nice...Yeah I defenitely do that, my dad will just hafta enjoy the extra lil power for now.. He just bought the car today so we're gonna do a complete tune-up and possibly change the timing belt. It has an oil leak too that I need to figure out,not sure but it seems to be coming from the valve cover,cause there is some oil on top of the motor and where the gasket is, but also runs down the back, which concerns me cause I read on here the rear main seals tend to leak sometimes, and can cost alot to fix. But hopefully this isnt the case. Also another thing I noticed is corrosion in the distributor cap that I will probably have to replace soon also. The kid I bought it from is in law school and doesnt know much about the car, so I really need to do a thorough look over everthing now. Any suggestions on problems I should look for, or things I should replace?
Hey, I have alot of the same problems with my car. I have a 93 prelude si 2.3 with 195,xxxk mikles. I let it go a long time (the oil leak(s)). Then the a/c stopped lowing cold. The oil leak suddenly turned into an oil gush on to the ground as i drive. After a month and a half of saving money with the lude parked i bought a bunch of parts online at rockauto. i bought all the seals except the head gasket crank rear main oil filter housing adapter valve cover trans cam seals etc... a water pump timing and balance belts and tensioners etc... i took it to the shop to get all installed for a labor charge of $380. they called me and told me to get a clutch kit and axles, and they would put em in for the same labor as quoted, so i did. i also put in new oil, gear oil antifreeze and filters. the car runs great now. but i still need the a/c fixed!! it was 102* yday . anyway if you can aford to, then get all the seals and waterpump and timing stuff taken care of, to save it from going out in the near future. chances are if one seal fails the others will soon too. I'm still looking for a good deal on a a/c compressor if anyone knows where to get one. good luck with yer prelude too.

I actually just took out my AC stuff today. Condenser, compressor, evap, and some other lines. If anyone is interested let me know it's all for sale, and it works great!
