93 Prelude sunroof problem

We just bought our son a 93 Prelude and we noticed that the sunroof was having problems closing tonight. Sounded like the motor was struggling to close it. Since we dont have the original owner's manual we dont know if there is some type of maintenance needed. Thanks

Try cleaning and regreasing the tracks that the sunroof runs on.
The grease dries out and alot of dirt gets in there over time.
A lithium based grease will work well.

Thanks for the help. We cleaned out the sunroof tracks, sprayed on some white lithium grease and voila....works like new. Now we just need some sunny days so we can use it. Thanks again.

My sunroof is a lil' iffy as well.
It doesn't always open (you can hear the motor going, but the roof itself doesn't quite catch on, you kind of have to push up on the backside of it for it to move). thinking about trying what you just mentioned.

The other problem though, is that when it does open...It makes a horrible noise mostly cuz of the back end bouncing up and down as it slides backwards :S dont know if that makes any sense. More like a loud vibrating noise. Any way to get rid of that? (No noise when it closes though).

The brackets that move the sunroof panel up and down might be worn, causing it to bounce.

Try cleaning and regreasing like mentioned above, on both the tracks and the brackets that hold the sunroof panel in place.

You might have to replace the brackets if the sunroof panel keeps bouncing when opened. I'm not super familiar with the 4th gens, but they are very similar to the 5th gens.
