93 Prelude over reving by its self!!!!

i am new to this site so hopefully someone can help me out. i just bought a 93 h22 prelude. i took it out for a ride the first time i had it home. just like that the car took off by itsself. i ppushed the clutch in and it hit the rev limiter so i shut it down right away. the throttle cable is not stuck. i pulled the cable off pulled the cold air intake off and made sure the flap was shut in the throttle body. i had a buddy start the car while i put my hand in the intake. car went off the rev limiter instantly while the flapper was still closed in the throttle body. the only thing that i could think of it that it is the TPS sensor. it does not have any vacum leaks that was the first thing i checked. my question is could this possible be the cause of the over reving without touching the gas? hopefully someone can help me out because im just sitting here scratching my head. so if someone could help me out id really appreciate it. thank you!

Hi. Im a noob too. Welcome to the boards. I was about to post a thread with a similiar issue on mine. I have a 93 Vtec but (auto ) Ive done research and from what most people have said the problem is either the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), Vacuum leak, TPS Sensor (Throttle Position Sensor) or a washer in the throttle body is loose.

The issue I have is who ever had my car before me had the idle set high and its sucking the hell out of gas. (Usually have to fill up every 4 days or so. Seems like im only getting about 10 miles to the gallon.) The car feels like its lagging even using 90 plus octane. When my car is at an idle position the needle bounces and the car hickups between 500-2000 rpms. Not kiddig one night the car drove itself home without my foot on the gas to accelerate it. Was wierd.

I've so far changed the IACV and the vehicle still does the same thing. I brought TPS sensor and is arriving soon.

If anyone else has any reccomendations please help...

Thanx
