'93 Prelude, 3 months now-blue springs

Hi Guys, I've had my 93 prelude for 3 months now, and here are some questions: My car was lowered, with "blue" springs, I have "bottomed out" so many times now, I've go to do something! I work at a company that sells car parts, I can get new springs at cost, but the book and company they represent does not show "stock" replacement springs for the Prelude, just the Accord. Are they the same? Will they work? I'm just trying to not pay full retail price, and "yes" I will sell the blue springs, once I get them out! --- Jon

The 4th and 5th gen spring is swappable, but i'm not positive about the accord's suspension. Why not just go with a coilover set up?
What type of struts are on it?

springs- struts

I'm not sure on the brand of struts, I live on 3 miles of dirt/gravel roads, it's going to snow soon, I need ground clearance and a soft ride, it rides so ruff now, suspension bottoms out with the slightest ruts. If I understand how coil-overs work, I don't think they are the answer for me. --J

With coilovers you could always raise the ride height to better suit your dirt and gravel roads.

Maybe look into getting an old used Subaru.

I bought the Honda to end my used car trouble,... Subaru... no thanks! At the end of my 3 miles of crappy road, it's 25 miles of pavement to work one way.

Do the coil-overs ride hard or soft, or do they just lift the car? Right now, my car rides so ruff on the 3 miles, I have to keep it at 30 mph or less. Pavement... we fly! -----J

^well depends on your spring rate. but if you find some oem shocks, probably your best bet.

Hey, I have used springs and coil overs and the best I have used was springs. I do understand you can raise up and down with coils but if you get a cheap set of coils you will regret ever doing it. The once I had were a nightmare. It makes a lot of noise when you hit a bump and it is time consumming having to match up the height for every side. Went back to springs and loved the ride. No noise and smooth ride, just be in the look out for bumps but so does every low rider. Stick to springs and you'll be set in my opinion.

names-numbers?

Thanks Guys for the help! Can I assume we are talking about replacing the coil springs? (coils) What are some name brands or places to purchase/ aprox. price? As I said before, I can buy through my work place for 10% over cost, if I can just find what I need..... Thanks again! -----J

Im having the SAME problem. 1993 Honda Prelude, bottoms out on every single little bump!! I have some no name yellow springs in the car, amd I put in KYB AGX struts ont he firmest setting and it still bottoms out.

I was going to do 1 of 2 things
#1 stock springs, but will accord or other honda vehicle springs work?

#2 cheap ebay coilovers

Is this a common thing for the Preludes to bottom out with lowering the car slightly?

^no, I was lowered almost 1.5 inches and didn't bottom out, that doesn't mean go offroading either.

If you're smart about driving, then no you won't bottom out.
