is there a faq with all the info like this about differences in years and trims? i KNOW theres gotta be a thousand, just my search skill must be lacking tonight
i have a 96 rear panel, and i think the 93 vtec model was all vinyl or plastic whereas the 94-96 was plastic/vinyl w a fabric/cloth like
material in the middle of the panel!!!!!
I have a 94 vtec and both the rear 1/4 panels and door panels have the perforated "leather" insersts. I put " " around leather because honestly, I don't know if they're leather or not. They appear to be vinyl based on how they feel and how different they are in texture from the seat leather. It's kind of like the vinyl top 1/4 of the rear seats.

Wrong, 4WS models came with the option to have leather seats.... a very expensive option indeed

All years are the same, it just depends on the model and color of your car. If your car came with leather seats, they'll be leather, cloth- cloth. And the color will of course match the color of the rest of the interior. The ONLY difference, will be the design of the material. The cloth pattern changed through the years, and so did the leather.
attn everyone with black leather interior.... i really need the top part of the black leather seats in the back if possible i have the bottoms also need the black leather door panel inserts will trade $ and my clothes ones for this stuff and also i have coilovers and other things to trade

in my 94 Prelude Brochure, it shows the 4WS and VTEC models both come standard with leather interior (including my own 94 vtec)...in the 1994 models this means:
-leather front and rear seats
-top portion of the rear seats (about 4-5 inches) are a separate section of all vinyl
-middle sections of front seats are perforated leater
-middle section of rear seat bottoms perforated, top portions (the seat back) are plain leater (no peforations, not stitchings, etc., just flat)
-both door and rear 1/4 panels are vinyl inserts (meaning, the entire insert, the part that curves downwards where you rest your elbow. However, there is a "sub-section" within this insert that is a perforated leather insert. Again, not sure if this is real leather or just vinyl that looks like leather...seems like vinyl to me.
-arm rest (same piece that covers the center console storage compartment), is also leather (flat, no stitchings, perforations, etc.)
-leather covered steering wheel
Since the 4th gen preludes are getting older and more and more people are getting them 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand, there's no telling how much each car will have changed from owner to owner. You might have a mix match of interior and exterior parts from all different years from the 4th gen.
For instance, I know that many dealers sold 4th gen SI's with "aftermarket" leather interior (because SI's did not come standard with leather). This might also go for the 93 VTEC (this also did not come with standard leather yet...). This is a leather kit that the dealer buys and puts in (perhaps made by Katskins <---spelling?). It looks nothing like the actual Honda factory leather that goes into the VTEC and 4WS models. There is no perforations, and has horizontal stitchings across the middle portions of the seat backs. This is just one example of the sorts of things you will run into.
btw, I have 92, 93 and 94 US Prelude brochure, so I can confirm/answer all questions regarding the interiors of the preludes for these years. I didn't keep up with the preludes after 94 (since mine is a 94), so can't say for certain what happened to the interiors after that. I do know that after 94 they came out with a "special edition" prelude, that wasn't VTEC but had the "luxury" features of a VTEC (i.e., leather, etc.)

----there is a difference, cuz outta my 93 vtec the rear 1/4 panels are a str8 vinyl where 94-96 vtec models come wit the rear panels vinyl and "leather insert"!!!!!!!!!
