My friend found a 92 Si with 130,000 miles for $2900. Is that car still going to run, or is he asking for a car that he will have to pay to fix upcoming problems? I did a quick search, but I came up with nothing. It's either this or a 97' cavalier. What do you guys think. Is the car dependable after so many miles?
My lude has 151k (ish) and still runs like a champ! I know luders that are well past 200k and still running strong. Miles aren't a big big things with Honda's. I'd say get it.

a lot of it would probably depend on how well it was taken care of at that point. It wouldn't be to hard to beat a car to death in those miles but it seems like most preludes are still running strong past the miles that one has. I'd get a mechanic to check it out and then go for it if it checks out good
100k on mine and only problem I've had is burning oil and bad clutch......only cuz I abused the heck out of it the last couple thousand miles. Gave me a reason to upgrade now and got a racing clutch/flywheel and love it..........other than that.............no problems at all....96 Si btw.
prelude run strong as long as you treat it right. if somethings going bad with it, then u did something wrong. so basically, take care of it and it will take care of you. and if your only choices are cavalier and the prelude, whats the problem deciding? prelude of course!
whew... it's been a while since I last posted here.. however, I bought my 94 VTEC brand new in 1994, and sold it in 2000, with 173,000 miles on it!
The only problems were regular maintenance issues. Radiator leaked, axels, clutch... but nothing more than that.
I would make sure the car had been cared for. then buy it.
it's a lot of car for 2900.00. and after having owned both and Si and a VTEC, the Si is more satisfying in around the town driving... more bottom end torque.
Originally posted by railsldr I'd say go for it but the price bothers me. I got my 92 si for $6000 with 145,000 miles on it. Just check everything thoroughly before buying it.
o yea, thats another thing that bothered me. how is it so cheap? i got mine for 6700 with 115,000 miles on it. is that car in bad condition or something? or maybe its just ur area?
My lude has well over 200K miles, but still running like new. Haven't touched the engine, tranny and paint. I'm suspicious on the price too. When I bought my '03 Pilot back in February, I was going to sell my lude but didn't get any good offer, so I kept it. Anyway, I wouldn't sell it for anything less than $5000.

I bought my 92 Si about 4 years ago with 96k, and now it has 150k and still runs like the day I bought it. Just pay attention to regular maintainance and it will live really long.
I do suggest that you get it checked out by a good honda only mechanic. Just in case the person who had it before you didnt take such good care of it.
you should take the car to a dealership and have them do the check for resale inspection. thats what use for honda certified used cars. If everything checks out, you will have no problem with that mileage.
My first car (My brothers old car) was a 88 accord, the car ran great with 297,000 miles. The only problem with it (when i took on a guardrail and lost) was it needed a new clutch. it was still the original clutch, a well maintained car will last you along time.
