hi need some advise got a 92 prelude 2.0 16v that will not start after replacing the battery was running fine before this,it appears im not getting an ignition spark, ive already replaced the dizzy amplifier but still no spark, also ive got no ecu trouble codes flashing up when the jumper wire is bridged ,it is low on fuel but ive plenty pressure at the fuel rail when cranking over,im a time served mech so have tried pretty much all i know ,my next step is using the honda ecu harness and testing the entire pgm fi sytem,so if u can give me any other ideas id be gratefull thanks...btw all the fuses are fine .
Does main relay have anything to do with spark? i know it controls the fuel pump but does it control ignition?
dragonmuzz, im in the same situation. no spark. i got fuel, new dizzy, everything for the igniton pretty much. and still no spark. ugghhhh...frustrated
Yeah its driving me crazy too, as i said im getting no dtc fro
inj ecm so ive no startin point, i find it hard to believe the main relay can pack in over night but i will check it anywaz, away to check the coil cos thia will not cause the ecm to log a fault code
I have a similar problem on my 93 prelude si h23a1 it started sputtering on the way to work yesterday now it wont start at all. it cranks just no start. I just replaces the plugs and wires, it happened right after i put exhaust on the car -cut the cayt and the ressonator out and added a muffler- could that have effected it? any ideas thanks
make sure all the connections are fine and that the injector box is plugged in. it may just be a loose connection. what about the distributor connections?
Hi just to let u know it was the tdc sensor inside the dizzy, got from a scrapyard 40miles away for £30 but hey if it starts its worth every penny ,thx for all ur help guys
when i last had a problem similar to the OP's the main relay fixed it. I dont know why, i just too the suggestion of members on the forum here and it worked.
I"ve been having the same problem...cranks, but won't start. Until yesterday it would start after about ten minutes, or after it warmed up a bit outside, but I finally gave up trying. After checking the distributor we finally figured out there's no voltage from the battery to the distributor. Today we'll be checking switches and relays. Any other ideas would be awesome. I continue to search....
Everyone we talked to today said to replace the distributor, so I ordered one on ebay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
let me know if the distributor works for you because I have the same exact problem because my car sometimes would have the dash lights flicker as if it wanted to shut down then they would light up normal again... so when I finally got to my destination and tried starting it up again it would crank but wouldn't start. I have power in everything except my dash... what is it?
The distributor I got works great now that the timing is right again. (Long story) If the dash lights still don't work after you change the distributor check the fuse marked ig sw in the engine bay fuse box. Mine blew and I lost the radio, speedometer, tach and dash lights on my way home one night. That was less than fun. Let me know if you want the ebay seller I used. I got a great price and it only took two days to arrive.

am i missing something here. did they put a 2.0 in the 92-96 lol cause i know my ludes but i might be missing something here. i know they cam with the h22, h23 and f22 but i was unaware that it came with a 2.0, i thought those came in the 3rd gens
Well the distributor didn't solve my intermittant starting/dash lights/battery dying problem so now I'm finally down to replacing the main relay. Been waiting all week for the part so I'm hoping to have it all solved this weekend. I should have gone with my gut and everything I read here and insisted on replacing the relay three months ago. Instead I got new parts I probably wouldn't have needed and went through a handful of mechanics before someone finally said main relay. Very frustrating and expensive.
The connections for ground and alternator have been checked and cleaned and got a new main relay in, but I still got stuck yesterday and had to be rescued. So I"m back to driving my dad's old nasty truck. lol I should have sold this car months ago.
Couple of days ago, I get into my 93 Prelude. When I opened the door, my dash lights started flickering. I try to start the car, but I can't get it to start. I open the hood, and I notice that my parking lights, brake lights, and license plate lights are blinking together with the dash lights. In addition to the flickering, the little jingle the car makes when you leave your lights on also is in sync with the flashing of all my lights. All my dash lights and gauges work. I just replaced the battery, to see if that was the problem, no luck. Any ideas?
TRY NEW COIL TOO. lol My 92 prelude with f20a, same motor as u prob, died n wuldnt start, same thing. got new coil n it starts. But, i still have the same previous problems.. My car takes a while to start when i start it in the morning. i have to press the gas and it will start then i have to hold the gas a min til it warms up. and my headlights and right bright are out. lol the front turn signals are dim. any suggestions for both? distributor cap? n maby headlight relay thing. idk. my battery dies sometimes to.. can anyone help?
After going through everything else I had to have the fuel pump replaced. Since doing that the car starts right up every time. Now on to the other problems....
