hello, i am new to the forum and need a point in the right direction, my wife borrowed my cherry , white 92 prelude with 73000 miles on it and 30 min later the car had to be towed to a repair shop where i was informed the engine was "locked up" and needed replacing, the car is perfect and i plan to repair it, my question is new vs used engine and where to look for the best options and prices for this issue, the shop tells me he doesn't understand the cause , the timing belt is intact and all fluids are at proper levels.... help ... please! i am located in ft collins colorado
basically its from Japan, and it's used. Everyone here that blows their motor usually gets a H22A, I got a F22B though and it's fine. What model Prelude was it? S, Si, or VTEC?
hydrolocked? wtf is that? i just call it "F-CKED UP"
i think i hydrolocked my h23a1....its all better, the F22B owns H22A's around here
oh, and another thing: JDM and USDM are pretty much the same, but there are a few minor differences. if you want performance get the h22a, if you just want something to drive, get either a F22B, H23A, or F22A4

it's the Si 2.3 dohc H23a i do believe, he suspects it was a manufacturers defect or assembly line fook up and thinks it has to be a broken rod or bearing that let loose... at any rate a new engine (remanufactured) and clutch job with rad boil out is looking to be about 5 k.......
look, blue, get a F22B or H23A1 off the inet: www.hmotorsonline.com for less than $1k, use the rest of the money and buy a new clutch from ebay $100 or so, and then install it yourself or labor very well could be about $800 or so....where do yuo live?
