90 MM pistons for H22a

I know the Endyn sells these pistons that will give me a CR of 11.5:1

It states on their website that these pistons are for NA only.. I guess meaning no Nitrous (Obviously no boost).. I am guess ing this is because the amount of boring you are going to have to do to the block to make these fits I imagine that you think walls out quite a bit (relatively) I aslo know that the H22a is known to have thinner walls then other honda engine to begin with.

My question then is.. Are these TOO big for my engine? This is gonna be 100% daily driven prelude.. So the engine has to last and be reliable..

What do you think?

they're some huge pistons, and you would have to get the block bored out obviously, whats the question though? will they fit your block?.. yes, its going to cost you though... endyn wouldnt make it if they hadnt used them

and daily driven isnt really doable on these pistons in my opinion.. its going to be more than just the pistons your going to have to change though.. these arent just dropins like some companies make...

"last and be reliable" isnt something people go for when they're looking into a product like this, its power.. if you're looking for a troublefree buildup,, things look grim in my opinion.

Well thanks for the honest opinion...

You I went and Read theoldone.com website talking about these pistons, and they don;t seem to be "plug and play" to say the least..

But I was planning on getting portflow todo my head and valve train anyhow...

As far as reliability goes.. is it JUST because of the size of the pistons I think that stock is like 86 or 87mm... what exaclty about the pistons/setup that make you think this is a recipe for heartache?
I am not worried about detonation becuase there are cars coming out from the factory now adays with 11.5:1 CR and I will also be adding a Hondata Stage II.... to really tune it in right..

I am NOT set on getting this 90mm pistons, I just heard that they existed the other day...

I have been planning on going with Crowers oversized pistons..
BTW

i dont think its a recipe for a heartache, if you did a search on engine rebuilds you're going to see alot of horror stories, and you're going to see ALOT of downtime, this is your daily driver?
well.. getting your block sleeved is going to be a task in itself,
you have to send your block off to GE etc... i was just mentioning that for a daily driver you might not want to go that
extreme on it. but hey if you have the cash and the time for the car,, then do it, i'd like to see it, would be really fast. In reality its not the size of the piston, because it was made for the motor, its everything else you have to do heh..

again, i dont know how you're setup though, there are people here who have thousands to invest on a motor, and their preludes turn out great,..

if you do it right(meaning $$), then yea you probably could get it to last, and unfortunately there have been alot of cases where a month or
so after, people have to pull their motors for stuff breaking..

just my thoughts,,

I read somewhere that nitrous and High Compression is a good mix??? Not sure if you were just referring to having paper thin cylinder walls and having problems with that?? From what I understand is that Type S pistons are a good mix with H22's and dont require sleeving the block...just what I heard not for sure on it? I believe those are aroung 11.0:1 compression. mix those with a nice head setup and Type s rods or Eagle rods if they would work and that should be a safe setup.
just my 2cents

Thanks for the input fellas.. I might as well just list out EVERYTHING that is going to be done to this car over the course of the upcoming year...
It's not the ONLY car I have, but once it is finished it WILL be the main one I drive.. Here goes

11.5:1 CR Endyn Pistons 90mm
Eagle COnnecting Rods
Crower Stage II cams
Ductile Iron Sleeves From GOlden Eagle..
Headwork and ValveTrain Upgrade to be done by Portflow which will be specd out according to the above pistons..
AEM FUel Rail and FPR
Hondata stage II bumping up the Rev limiter to probably 8k
I KNOW its not a good idea to raise the rev limit on this engine TOO much, but I am thinking that the extra 300 RPM allowed me by bumping up to 8k will better my 1-2 shift in means of staying in VTEC, will not be TOO much of a raise..
Quaiffe LSD
RPS stage III Clutch
FIndanza Lightened Flywheel
Stock injectors to be cleaned and blueprinted by RC
MSD Ignition Upgrade..
Front and Rear sway bars.. probably ST's
All new bushings front and back.. probably going to poly's but contemplating just throwing stock ones in there depending on the price of the parts.. I know that most of the expense invloved with bushings lies in the labor...

I've come to the point to where I was either going to spend around 25K on a WRX and have a 400+ car payment a month for the next 5 years OR Drop arond 8K into this LUDE and keep it for another 3-5 years and then hopefully be able to sell it to some 18yr old with an eye for imports for around 8k I think it will work out..
I ALLREADY HAVE: I/H/E/P/
