5th gen head unit in a 4th gen?

I was going to pick up a 5th gen CD player head unit, I was wondering....will it plug into the 4th gen harness? will it even work? Also i have an infinity basslink, does the 5th gen have sub outs?

It can be done. U will need to make a custom harness. You will need a reverse harness for a 97-01 prelude. Then you will need a regular harness for a 92-96 prelude. Match the color wires together to make ur own harness. Cost will be about $40 bux since each harness usually runs for about $20 bux.

The 5th Gen starting using Honda's new radio harness in 1997. ALL 4th gen Preludes use the older style.
To put the 5th gen radio in a 4th gen you will need two harness. Metra model numbers:
70-1720 - 4th gen radio harness adaptor
71-1721 - 5th gen radio harness reverse plug (male plug that goes into the radio)

However.....2 things: The colors are going to clash badly. The 5th gen radio is amber illumination, and the 4th gen illumination is green. Secondly, the 5th gen radio is disigned for the acoustic feedback system which has special sensors on the rear speakers. So, I don't know how well it would work.

Most importantly, OE radios in general are garbage and have extremely limited features and expansion capabilities.
