5th gen climate control compatible?

I didn't have any luck searching on this topic but...

Anybody know if the 5th gen climate control fits in the 4th gen? I like that the temperature indicator is red instead of orange (for the heat), as well as the circle indicators for fan speed.

My interior light scheme consists of blue lights with red as the secondary color, and the orange on my current climate control will look rather off after I convert my CC lighting to blue LEDs.

I realize that the 96 prelude has the type of CC I'm looking for, but it's very difficult to come by.

is it possible to just change the color of what you don't like? if you're already doin the LED thang...prolly cheaper to just change colors with everything.

That'd be a bit difficult, in other words, not possible. The actual color of the climate control heater indicator is orange.

I might be able to put in some film & match it with a certain color LED to make it appear red, but when my lights are not on, it would still be orange.

Here's some pictures to compare.

What I have: (4th gen)

What I want: (5th gen)

Now they appear to be almost identical, except for the color of the heater indicator, and the circle indicators for fan speed. What I'm wondering is if the fitting tabs/screw mounts or the plug for the wiring harness are the same.

Anybody know if they are inter-changeable?

i belive the face plate will work, but the connectors will not. i had a soldering accident while doing a led conversion on mine, and got a 4th gen face to go onto it. but the connections on the wire harness was differnt

It looks just like this:

Well, I just did my EL gauge conversion, and completely re-did the wiring for my HIDs & a lot of the wires under my steering column---the previous owner got some ****ty shop to install the aftermarket alarm... And I'm a little tired of the whole wiring deal. Looks like I'll just have to look around for a 96 CC so it'll be plug & play.

It physically will not fit, it's a slighty different shape unit to the 4th gen unit and (I think) is slightly larger in size which would prevent it from just slotting into the dash. It could possibly be made to fit with some cutting of the dash, but you don't want to do that.
But, I can't see why the internals of the 5th gen unit couldn't be transplanted into the 4th gen housing....?
