5-lug conversion shopping list & 4ws guinea pig

I remember hearing that a few 4ws guys did the 5-lug conversion without any problems. I don't feel as though things ever got finalised, so I'll be the *official* guinea pig.

First thing's first: I need a shopping list. Here's what I have so far:

Base front hubs
Base front knuckles
Base rear hubs
Base rear spindle
Base rear brake rotors

I already have the Legend calipers up front, so I'll get Legend or NSX rotors for up front (whichever is larger). I've also heard a lot about getting various sensors, and this is what I have trouble with. Does anyone know *exactly* which sensors to get? Please let me know so that I can start looking for these parts.

I believe you'll have to get legend rotors or just stock 5th gen rotors. Since the NSX rotors are thicker.

Ok I am the official gunei pig so stop that nonsense!! All you need are the Knuckles. knuckles containg the spindal and hub. You dont have to modify the back brakes at all, since the si and vtec rotors are the same size, However you will have to put a larger caliper on the front to accomodate the larger front rotor you will be using, since you already have legend calapers up front you are ok. I wanna see pics.

Two things:

1. I want the thicker rotors, because the Legend calipers have to be shimmed in order to work with the VTEC rotors. Both the Legend and NSX rotors are approx. 5mm thicker than the Prelude rotors, so I will be able to ditch the shim.

2. I will need rear brake rotors, because even though the calipers are the same, the bolt pattern is not. I'm not putting 4-lug rotors on a 5-lug car

So, I'll need ABS sensors only for the rear? What about front ABS sensors? Also, do I have to get the rear knuckle? I'd like to just swap the hub and spindle ass'y, since the knuckles are different between 4th and 5th gen with respect to the rear sway bar. If I use the rear knuckles off a Base Prelude, I can't use my rear sway bar anymore...unless I get the Progress endlinks or something.

Any suggestions on this? C'mon folks...I need your responses.

Noo what im sayin is that all that should be included when you buy the knuckles. I guess what im thinking is that when you buy the knuckles like I am, it includes the rotors, calipers and every nut and bolt imaginable.

Rich: that might be a good idea. most places will charge you more for stuff if you have them break it up. i'll have to see if it will be easier for me to just buy the knuckles instead.

For the rear, you need only the spindle/hub, because as you said before the knuckle itself is unuseable on the 4th gen due to the rear swaybar endlink mounting points.

Yes you only *need* the rear ABS sensors from a 5th gen, you can use the 4th gen fronts, but I had all 4 from a 5th gen and used them just as extra measure... plus they're newer, so if you happen to get the fronts with the front suspension, might as well put them on.

I think I've read somewhere that the NSX calipers had a different offset or something like that so you couldn't use them, if you want ticker rotors go with the Legend ones to be on the safe side since they are the same thickness as the NSX rotors

The NSX calipers don't have a differen't offset, they sit the same as the Legend calipers.

And yea just get the legend calipers, it makes things much easier, and you get better cooling of your brakes since they're larger. I went with the legend rotors and calipers myself.

Okay, so I'm not the *official* guinea pig for the 4ws 5-lug conversion...um....so who is?

Anyway, I already have the Legend calipers, and I'm like 99% sure that the offsets for the Legend vs. NSX calipers are the same. The thickness is also the same. Does anyone know if the diameter is the same? All else being equal, I'd rather have the larger rotors for the extra bling bling factor.

Yeah, I'm going to go with just the rear spindle and hub assembly. I don't even think I'm going to get the ABS sensors, since I've seriously been debating de-ABS-ing my car. No need for ABS in CA.

I don't know why I said calipers, I meant rotors, I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere someone said they had a different offset.

The diameter is the same. Anybody ever checked if the Legend and NSX rotors are the same price? I wouldn't be supprised if you'd paid like twice the price for the NSX ones.

so if we do this conversion does it mean that we have to take off our rear sway bar? Is there any rear sway bar that will work back there? I know aftermarket wont but maybe the 5th gen...
