4ws...need Help

So basically i just got this 93 Prelude 4WS series and i knew that when i got it the 4WS had some problems so i'm trying to figure out how to fix it! Basically i don't know what could be the problem because i have tried resetting the ECU and all that and it still only works like 50% of the time. So if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be and how i could fix it PLEASE tell me. And it has nothing to do with if i am starting the car cold or hot or anything like that. It just seems to be totally random???

if i remeber right the 4ws isnt actually linked to the main ecu it has its own contol box that is locate in the trunk i think, anywy i am going through a similar problem just havnt had time to actually tear into it. it was however suggested that there were wires on the ecu that need to be resoldered. hope tat helps.

yea the 4ws has its own control box in the trunk, its mounted right behind the driver side rear seat and ginormous u cant miss it

its possibly it could be the wheel position sensors since the 4ws its completely electronic its needs to know the position of the front wheels and when it senses an "abnormal driving condition" its locks the rear wheels in safe mode an doesnt let them steer. iv heard abot the sensors going bad which would cause it to sense an abnormal condition but going through its schematics and trying to fix it without messing it up farther is a nightmare i have sort of the same problem and i gave up on fixing it after trying to fix it for 12 an a half hours striaght for a weekend haha

so my advice is to not start drinking when u start working on ur 4ws it takes forever.....

i heard parts r pretty hard and/or expensive to get for it also but dont quote me on that i havnt looked into it

hope i helped! lemme no if u figure it out id luv to fix mine also

As I posted above, its impossible to troubleshoot the problem without pulling the code.
