4WS Indicator Bulb

Hey guys this summer I am planning the 4WS conversion to my prelude. I got all the parts I need from the junkyard for cheap. I have a lot of confidence that I can do this because I have already done a lot of other stuff to my car including the JDM Climate Control, Folding Mirrors, Engine Swap, etc. So I don't think this will be too much bigger. Anyway, I guess there is a speedometer cluster that has the 4WS indicator light on it. So I'm looking for the 94-96 style gauges with the indicator bulb....uh oh I just thought of something. My car is a VTEC and they never made 4WS with VTEC so they wouldn't have the cluster with both... Hmmm I wonder if there is a way to modify my cluster for that. Anyone got any ideas?

Famous last words!

As far as the cluster goes if you want the 94-96 style the only one with the 4ws light would be the 94 4ws model. And yes, if you want a USDM cluster there is no 4ws vtec model. You could mod the cluster for the 4ws bulb as all the ones I've seen have the spot in the back for it, its just covered by the face plate. If you find a couple 94 4ws clusters let me know, I've been looking for one.

By the bother, what all parts do you have? I know you'll need the following:

Rear actuator
Front main steering angle sensor
Rear main steering angle sensor
Front sub steering angle sensor
Rear sub steering angle sensor
4ws computer
4ws ABS computer
4ws rear crossbeam
Rear suspension? I would think its different.

I made a writeup a while back, see it here:

Alrighty well thanks man. I will let you know if I come across some. I may end up just putting the 4WS light in one of the empty slots in the middle cluster (with the gas guage and whatnot). This might be easier than trying to mod the VTEC guages lol

It would be easier, and cheaper!

Huge props if you get that conversion done. That's a lot of work.

Haven't had any major problems with mine. I did have to resolder the relays in the 4ws computer but other than that its been great. Not to say that some people don't have issues...

i wonder who bought the parts....

I'll be attempting the swap on spring break...early march for me. mechanically it shouldnt be bad, but the electronics will be a pain. If i can get the wiring correct (there are a few things that are different...abs computer for one and then the 4ws computer has wires connecting to some harnesses that dont have certain connections on 2ws preludes. as far as i know, the suspension is the same for a 2ws and a 4ws car. I'll post more when I get started.

as far as the light....i am getting a cluster (thanks!) I may use it, i may not. I may just put a bulb on the wire on the computer just for testing purposes and then run another later. either way, it will be a pain

Sweet guys thanks for all your help! Hey Bertico can someone from the US bid on that faceplate cuz I think that would work perfect. All I need really is the 4WS indicator light part.

And Sean1121, thanks a ton for the link to the conversion...I really appreciate it!

If you really want the EL VTEC cluster with the 4WS light, you could just cut a hole where the 4WS indication goes on the true 4WS clusters, line the back of it with 6 layers or so of acetate, and wire it up!

I wish well to all you attempting the swap, I was in the market for a 94 4ws cluster for 2 years and could never snag one.
