is 4ws better than my car??

i have a 96 si and no 4ws. did they stop making the 4ws on the Si's because they found something better or was it just expensive to keep on the car or is 4ws something you have to order???

4WS OWNS!

Actually, it was like a $2k option on the Si, for about the same price you could just buy the VTEC model instead. They still offer it in europe and japan on the 5th gens.

It is very noticable, I can turn around in a driveway, and it handles alot better on canyon roads. If I was buying another lude, I would look for another 4ws and swap in a VTEC engine... wait a minute, I already did that.

I agree with Absolut, 4WS kicks.

Production of the US 4WS Preludes were halted in 1994.

My Previous Prelude was a 93 4WS and I can definitely tell a difference between that car and my current VTEC model.

I wish they didn't stop making them here in the US.

Tell me about it...
93 4ws Prelude turning circle is 31.8ft

My work van, 00 Chevy Express 2500 Extended has a 50.8ft turning circle!!

Talk about an a driving style adjustment after a week vacation.

Ive never tried, but I bet my lude can turn around inside the turning circle of my van.

Good summary. I own the canyons (PCH, Las Virgines, Mullholand - for your socal luders). Its great. Daily driving isnt that big of a deal (i.e. lane changes, parking is alittle beneficial, but not significantly). On turns it makes its diference and let me tell you - I have pulled full traction 35 MPH 2 lane Uturns.

It also provides a great intimidation factor - for people who have never seen it, seeing the rear wheels simply has them saying 'wow! how did you do that, thats the coolest thing i have ever seen.'

How much would it cost to get a JDM H22 swapped into a 93 or 94 4WS Si? Total cost minus labor not just the motor.

Rough estimate: Probably 2000-3500, depending on where you get it from.

Now is that the cost of the engine only or is that with all the little nuts and bolts and other stuff like ecu and things?

I would say for the package. Just the engine would probably be the lower part of that range. Like I said though, its just a guestimate.

Its cheaper than I thought. Check out http://www.jdmclub.com/pricing.html. '92-95 Prelude H22A
2200cc (2.2L) DOHC Vtec 5 speed tranny $2300 US (without tranny, minus $600).' Dont forget 'Please add $300 for LSD, in limited quanities' - you might as well. So $2600 + shipping for LSD h22a with tranny and everything. Or keep your h23 tranny and go turbo!
