which one of those works? Does it just protect already good trim or actually restore old and faded trim back to good looking?

I think if you're gonna use any of those products, you should sand down the trim. My trim pieces weren't smooth and if you just paint over them with anything they won't look too good.

i think they are the same product, heres a quote from the how-to on properautocare

"Black moldings with patches of white stains require a penetrating solvent to reach into the material's pores and dissolve dried residues. Vinyl and rubber cleaner/dressings will not work. They may make the trim look better for a short period but the stains will return as the dressing wears off."

thats why i think i should use that instead of paint it.

Here's an update...

Almost 2 weeks ago, I sanded down the passenger side one cuz I was gonna paint it. I used 300, 400, 800, 1500, then 2000 grit sandpaper and I got it very smooth. I cleaned it up with some soap and water. Then I got curious, so I grabbed a bottle of some dash/rubber/plastic cleaner/glossy stuff and sprayed some on a towel. I rubbed it into the molding and damn... It looked really good!

Here it is:

I took that pic tonight. It still looks really good. For comparison, it looked like the driver's side one.

This was much easier than painting it and looks better

$80 and its not just the molding, its the glass too. Not to mention installing em is a PITA cuz u have to take apart the interior.
