What have you guys done and recommend?
I had an Eclipse 5443 head unit, with a Kicker 6x9 in place of the factory unit, which was driven by a Rockford Fosgate amp, 100 watts I think. I replaced the factory speakers with Alpines.
I've got a panasonic CQDF800U deck..
MBQuart 6.5 comps in the front
Nakamichi 6.5 coaxs in the back
Running off a Soundstream Picasso
2 12" Kicker Solo Barics in the trunk
Running off a Soundtream 502
To me it sounds ok.. it could be better
Recomendations
Get some new fronts
MBQuart, Boston Acoustics, Infinite.. comps, really depends on what music you listen to..
After that get an amp.. if you like the way it sounds maybe step up to some subs.. JL, Kicker, Alpine.. just start of small and build on it till you have something you like..

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X717 head unit
Kenwood Excleon 6.5" separates in front

1 10" Xtant A 2 ohm sub in a custom built box.
Directed 250D amp for the sub
Directed 200 4 channel amp for the speakers
Nothing too fancy, but it works for me.
The Directed amps are really nice. Not too expensive, but they run very strong for their listed power output.

i have a el kemilion (sp?) head unit, alpine speakers all around, American Legasy 600 watt amp, 12" sub (for got what kind, but I bout it at best buy) in a bandpass box
Clarion deck
Boston Acoustics all around in factory locations
removed tweets from dash, replaced with BA 3.25's
Swapped in the rear center console from a 95 and put an Infinity Kappa 6x9 in there
Area 51 amp pushing a pioneer IMPP DVC 10 in sub..and 6x9
•Sony flip face
•Sony components in doors and rear
•Kenwood Tweeters custom mounted on doors
•Rockford Punch 100 amp
•2 Sony Xplode 8" subs mounted in a custom box in wheel well. The box is covered in sheet metal to give a reflective surface for the neons to bounce off of. I will soon be upgrading the metal to acrylic mirrors for a nice look.
Up until 2 weeks ago I had a Alpine CDA-7930 (old school, but you can't beat 4 Volt Preouts), Alpine changer, Infinity Kappa for front and rear fill, and 12in. Infinity sub, all powered by a Rockford 60ix (which fits perfectly in the fold down seat hole). I also had an Alpine GPS Naviagation system, but took it out because I had nowhere to really mount it.
That was until someone raped me of all my goods
Back to square 1

I'm not a jacker, and never will be, but y'all might not want to post this stuff out in the open. I'm a bit paranoid after I started telling a bunch of people what I had in my ride, got filmed a few times out in Colorado, only to have my car broken into 2 weeks later. Don't let the thugs know what you have -- I am NOT calling all PO.com-ers thugs. Just play it safe, and you'll probably enjoy your expensive stuff longer.

Anybody want to buy my Lude? (Will sell in either stock or fairly modded trim).
i wouldn't worry about it. This site is probably one of the safer ones out there to post this stuff.
But back to the question.
Ok, I think I've decided to get components up front...thats the best idea right? I mean I already have that indash tweeter speaker on each side right? Why not put a new tweeter in those and then the 6.5 in the door? Good idea? I got to see Rockford Fosgate's component set at Best Buy this last weekend..it seemed pretty nice.....so components up front a good idea.....yes or no?
And for the rear two speakers what is a good idea to do about those. Those are 6.5 also aren't they? Do you use 2 way, 3 ways or am I totally off?
I need to figure out what I want before Christmas

I doubt anyone on this site would do **** like that
Hi people, can a 6.5 speaker fit right into the door of a 4th generation 1994 Prelude VTIR (Australia standard VTEC version) after you remove the stock speaker without cutting anything out? OR I’ll be much safer with a 5 ¼ as someone recommended me in one of my post?
To Machine Head:
How do you change your tweeters from the dash? Can you run it through with me step by step?
To every one:
Do you have to drill a hole in the firewall to connect a cable from the battery to the amp placed in the booth?
Do I have to buy a special Honda wire harness adapter in order to hook up my new HU? (highly likely to be a Pioneer DEH-P3350 OR DEH-P4350)
Will I get a noticeable improve of sound quality if I just change the HU to run all the stock speakers.
Can anyone tell me all the stock speaker’s size (front, rear, and the tweeters on dash)?
PS. Sorry Mike95lude, don’t mean to take over your post. And don’t worry people, I won’t do anything to your car, because I’m in Australia
I have infinity kappa components up front, 6.5s in the doors, no problem. the only thin i had to modify was the little plastic speaker holder, which i cut the back out of for clearance, it was super, super easy to modify. Go ahead with the 6.5's. Oh, and yes you will get better sound quality with abetter deck, but i highly recommend you change all of the stock speakers also.

I'm pretty sure you just pop the tweeter holder out, and unscrew the old tweeter, unplug it, plug the new one in, and then screw it back together. Am I right?
You should have a hole in your fire wall, by the fusebox. You could run your wire through there if it isn't too thick. You might have to unbolt the fusebox though to get access.
In the US, we can go to any major car audio retailer and buy a 10-15 dollar adapter that makes it possible for us to use the stock harness so we don't have to cut any wires. If you want you can go ahead and cut the wires, but if you ever need to reinstall the OE deck, you might have problems. I'm not sure if that option is available to you or not.
You might get some improvement in quality, but you will prbably overpower your stock speakers and blow them out.

I've owned two 4th-gen Preludes and have found the stock locations for speakers leave a lot to be desired. The tweeters in the dash help to shift the soundstage up, but there is entirely too much left channel bias to be enjoyable. I don't see why anyone would want to keep speakers in the stock locations, but each has their own taste--I take it many of you just want a louder, more accurate sound, and could care less how their stage is set up.
Getting into staging is a completely seperate story in itself, but I do hate getting into cars and listening to any sound emitted from the rear.. I'd rather axe the rear speakers alltogether! As for the front stage, I went with a 3-way setup: An oversized 6.5" midbass driver in the doors, 4" mid and tweeter in custom fiberglass kick panels. I'm very pleased with the setup now; stage is high enough and I have plenty of channel seperation.
The Prelude uses 6.5" speakers in the doors as well as the rear deck. I've found it's much easier to throw out the plastic baffle/mounting ring in the door and make your own out of MDF. The driver in my doors has a 3" mounting depth and a cutout of nearly 5.75". Using a .75" MDF baffle, the speakers fit without a problem.
