4th Gen VTEC owners

Any of you with a 4th gen Vtec w/o a vtec controller knows if when shifting from 2-3 and 3-4 , Engine will stay in VTEC if you redline it in every gear?

Reason I ask is because I raced my friends 5th Gen with I/H/e and I beat it in the 1/4 of a mile by almost a 2 car lenght .

I have I/h/e + Apex VAFC(VTEC @ 4800 RPMs) + MSD 6AL and blaster ss coil and once I redline it in 2nd gear, it'll stay in VTEC 2-3 3-4 and 4-5 (I love IT).

just wondering ........

I don't have one anymore, but my old 1993 VTEC used to stay in VTEC in every gear on hard acceleration 1-2 and 2-3 - without getting close to fuel cut either.

with the stock ecu vtec engagement point the hardest gear to stay in vtec is the change from 1-2. after that it's very easy to stay within the engagement point.

1-2 is rather easy too but some people seem to have trouble with it.

Thanks All ,

i was really proud of that run agains the 5th gen.. I ran a 14.72 @ 96MPH and it felt really good on every gear. Every run after that I got a ****y reaction time or missed gears.

I'm also happy to announce that I beat every 5th gen I raced that night.

You have to remember the tach reads high, learn where the fuel cutoff is and shift just before then. It's hard during a race cause you can't look that close at the tach.

Reaction times only affect your time if you're racing in COMP...Try a deep stage for quicker reaction times and 60' times....That 8" makes a difference!!!

60FT 1/8 Mi 1/4 Mi
2.42 9.6 14.726

i dunno what my reaction time was on this one cause i'm not looking at the slip right now but I'm pretty sure it was 0.5xx or so...
