4th Gen VSS Location

I have been searching my manual for a good picture of where to find the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) as well as searching the forum for good information and am starting to get frustrated...

if anyone can give me some better clues I would appreciate it.

yeah you cant see it in the pic. itd be slightly more to the rear. the wiring harness in the pic is hiding the sensor you are looking for

you'll knowyou found it when you find the small sensor with 2 hoses coming out of it. the 2 hoses have power steering fluid in it, they both kinda come straight up outta the sensor about 2 inches, then ubend back down towards the rear of the car. look for those hoses and you will know you found it

it is located on top of the tranny housing, in the back behind the motor, it sits right above the differential.

hope we could help

I tried to take a picture of what I think it might be...
Can anyone confirm it?
I am pretty sure that I am looking at the right part now, but how am I supposed to get to it?

I took out my CAI to be able to see back there. in the upper left corner is the throttle body opening, and middle right is the egr valve.

thanks

it looks like you found it. youre going to have to get creative with what tools you have to get down there, you may have to strip down that area of the motor. the hoses can be a pain to get off teh vss mostly cause its a pain to reach.

ive only taken it off while the motor was out of the car, so thats about as much help i can offer, good luck

When i had to remove mine, i just had two extensions on a 10 mm socket. There is only one bolt holding it onto the tranny (unless you mean the top half of the VSS). The whole VSS unit(top half and unit that goes into the diff) is just held in by that one bolt. With my intake off and shifter cables removed from their spots, i could reach it with my ratchet. Like X01VTEC said, it's a PIA to get the hoses off. But i removed and replaced my VSS with the motor in the car.

I may have an extra 4th gen VSS. It came off my JDM h22 and I am not 100% sure it works because I used the one from my h23 on the h22, but it looked like it was in as good or slightly better condition.
