I have 2 4th gens with trannies that grind, both in third gear. I'm not sure on the mileage but well over 100,000 miles...

168,000 miles. 1st is a little rough and when going from 2nd to 3rd is okay I would say. Not the greatest, but okay. I would say overall that it is pretty damn good for that amount of miles.

3 preludes at the moment....93si w/175k original clutch and no grinding, 2 93 vtecs neither has any gear grind

BTW if you have just minor grinding, that acts up in the cold, i found a switch from 10-40 MTF to honda MTF made a big difference. friction modifiers i guess.

Same here.

As a matter of fact, when a mechanic changed my tranny fluid at about 120 k, he said what came out what gear oil (about 80w!). Apparently that can ruin a transmission. Mine seems fine. Just a slight whine in 4th gear, occasionally.

When the engine is cold there is some grinding going into 2nd and reverse sometimes but once the engine warms up and I drive it for a few miles it's all good.

little over 100,000 miles on the tranny- no grinds - but I'm making sure to use Honda MTF to be careful...
