nope, at least that I'm aware of. They're pretty damn easy to steal, too

There is one that came from the factory, but it was an option that you could get installed after you bought the car.

There is usually always a factory option you can pick up either if you buy your car from a Honda dealer, or if you bring the car to them to have it done. I bought my lude from a dealer, and I paid about 400 bucks to have them install an alarm by a company by the name of "Karr."

If you get an alarm installed, you might want to consider the paging option, so you get paged if somebody is messing with your car. I'm going to have this done soon, so I can have the perverse pleasure of permanantly maiming the next person to mess with my car.

the alarm that it did come with was a complete piece of crap.. the best thing to would be to go to a shop and get an aftermarket alarm
PM me and ill give u a number to call for one.
as for the pagers in my opinion there useless.
if u get the page chances are youll be to far away to do anyhting by the time u get there the thieves will be done.
not to mention running outside to see a shopping cart against your car, loud system or exhaust, ruining the rest of the day u could of have.
if your car is right outside youll here the alarm, and most of the pagers dont work inside malls anyway

Cool, thanks for that info. I really don't know what to do. You're right about the stock option alarm being worthless. I could almost get away with washing my entire car and still not set it off. I don't know what the best options in terms of alarms would be...

I'm just concerned about people breaking in, period. I know nothing can physically stop somebody from throwing a rock through a window, or tapping it with a spark plug, but I thought the pager would be a good idea. I'm usually never far away from my Lude at night.

Been broken into 3 times!!

Talk about bad luck! I've had 3 different cars and ALL of them have been broken into once. First was an '82 Corolla and they took my head unit and some baseball equipment I had in the trunk. Second was my '89 Prelude and they completely ripped apart my center console and cut the wires....VERY trashed. They ripped off the plastic piece between the two windows, popped off another plastic piece that's on the door and pryed open the window. $1400 worth of damage!!! Third was just this past June, my baby, my 95 Prelude. This one was done extremely clean and well thought out. Someone knew about Preludes. I have a LoJack alarm with keyless entry and siren and stuff. They pryed back the window by pushing the weather stripping in, unlocked the car, popped the hood and disconnected the battery in a matter of seconds. My car was parked right outside my window and I heard NOTHING!! (although I'm a heavy sleeper) My neighbor said he heard about 2 blips in the middle of the night but figured it was just me getting in or out of my car. They somehow pryed out my head unit leaving only ONE tiny scratch on the center console. The only other thing they took was my change tray (cheap bastards). I couldn't even claim it on insurance because the head unit was a few years old and my deductible was $250! Thank God I moved out of my parents house and into a really nice area! Ok, that was my long ass story. Sorry for boring ya'll. I NEED A NEW ALARM!!!!

Oh yeah! Anyway, that's a reason that I want one of those pager alarms too. Anyone heard of the Aladdin and if it's any good? I've been researching it for a few months now and it looks really cool! Remote start, keyless entry, etc.... for around $300-400. Any suggestions?

i bought a clifford concept 100 alarm, and had it installed. has a 2 stage starter kill, which means it kills the starting mechanism in 2 different places. ive tried it out already, when the alarm is going off, even with the key, the car doesnt start. its pretty cool.

What an awesome idea - never even thought of it! Why pay hundreds for a noisy car alarm - all you need to do is wire the ignition wires through, say, the light switch or something else - could even be the switch that tells you your seat belt isn't done up. Then you just have to turn on the lights (or put your seatbelt on, etc.) and start the car. Won't start without it! Thanks for the idea... I have a new project!

I got an alarm off Ebay that some guy couldn't figure out how to install and did the install myself so I got a great deal on it. It had only one accessory channel which I used for remote trunk release. You would need one with at least 2 accessory channels to do the trunk release and window rollup (I've never heard or rolldown but you might be able to wire it a bit different to get that effect). You would also need a selonoid for the trunk release... I got a kit from ebay for around $10. You would also need a window rollup module to get that effect and I just saw those on ebay for about $15. I see alarms on ebay for $30 to $70 that might do what you want or you could just get a keyless entry system for $25 or so and do the same without the alarm features. Then again to get this all done at a shop might be quite a bit of labor charges so if you can do it yourself and do a professional job this would be the chance to save some money.

Thanks for the info, how hard was it to install? In particular, how hard was it to install the trunk popping solenoid?

The trunk selenoid was very easy... but if you don't have much ability to do wiring then I'd say that the alarm might be a bit difficult. I guess I'd compare it to a big stereo install since the wiring is similar but it's quite a few more wires... it really gets down to how much you want the alarm to do. The more features you desire the more wires you need to tap into. I suppose that you could get an alarm or keyless entry system and just connect those features that you want, ie - if you don't want a siren that's 2 less wires, don't want the doors to be an alarm trigger that's a few more. You basiclly have power, ground , accessory, and then wires for features such as the hood trigger, door trigger, light flash, siren, interior light turn on, shock sensor which is usually just a module you mount and plug into the alarm so it's not really "wiring" per say, etc. I'd say that if you can do a clean install of a vtec controller or stereo with head unit, cross overs, amps, you might be able to tackle it. Just plan it out well so that you don't have it accessible for would be theives to tamper with.

I do have a computer program that will tell you wire locations and colors for the connections for an alarm if anyone needs assistance in that department.
