4th gen recalls from Honda

I've read about people having to replace their AC compressor for around 500$. Well, if you have proper receipts/documentation, Honda may be able to reimburse you for the charges of having to fix/replace your AC compressor as it was on recall. I called Honda and asked them if there was ever a recall for the ABS brake modulator since I've read about a lot of you with your ABS modulators that just died for no reason at all. They said they would look into it by checking honda dealership mechanic/service records. So I guess if they've seen enough service being done ont he abs modulator they may issue out a recall.

I have a 95 Si and my ABS modulator died at 64,000 miles. It's aggravating cause this part costs like 1400$! I think those of you with the same problem should call Honda (they really listen when it comes to stuff like this trust me), and maybe they can issue out a recall on this and we can all be reimbursed for the cost to get our ABS brakes back! I'm serious.

Honda reimbursed me for the cost of my AC compressor dying last year...but I spent 1400$ for the complete AC system...brand new. They gave me about 400$ for the AC compressor charges, though.

Yup...all 4th gen years buddy. Just call Honda, they're very helpful. The lady I spoke with told me there are certain models that are known to have defective AC compressors..and that it's known to basically die over time.

I've never heard of this as a recall....it may have been a TSB, but not a recall...

Wasn't there another recall for the lower ball joints on preludes and accords?

you can tell when your AC compressor is out when you turn on the AC, and 1) it doesn't blow cold air and 2) pop the hood, and see if the clutch is engaged (if it looks like the pulley on the compressor is spinning, it's engaged, if it's sitting stil, it's not).

"The transmission grinds when shifting into fifth gear due to mismanufactured shift fork. (1992-95)" This was in trouble spots.

Shouldn't this be recalled? The 5th gear in my '94 has an extremely high grind. Did anyone replace the shift fork?

Hey, my 5th gear grinded like a *****! It got worse and worse over time. And finally, I had my mechanic look at it. When he took it a part, he found the 5th gear completely shredded. It was caused by a bad synchro. Bad synchro = bad shift = grrrrind. So he replaced the entire tranny w/ a used tranny. But this was more than 2 years ago. I have a 94 vtec.

Yep, sunchro is the most likely cause of grind. My '94 VTEC has 146k miles and I have to wait like 2 seconds before I shift into fifth its so bad. I'm having a new clutch installed and the mechanic said he might be able to replace the 5th gear sunchro if its easily excessible, without having to rip the whole tranny apart.
