I agree. Don't do it. But I was looking at that ebay auction and wanted to know what you use. Probably some hinges

Some of us have actually looked into this, and at most body shops, it'll cost you 1500-2G's to get everything properly installed.

If you can afford the MASSIVE amount of money to have it done right then yeah it would be cool. You have to stregthen to door properly so it can support it's own weight from the top window rail. You also need to set up the support gas shocks and get the seals to work right.

I remeber reading somewhere that it cost someone around $2500 to $3000 to have a shop do it. Unless you are making a show car there is really no reason for this.

My two cents

I think it would be cool as long as you have other stuff with it...like bodykit, rims...etc. Don't do it to a stock lude tho.

Some places are starting to make universal hinge kits and such, cost is around 1500-2000 and comes with most of the stuff needed, but you'll need to do some welding and reinforcement...

But i'm guessing you'll need some hinges and struts that can hold up the door, powerful struts ...

www.decah.net . A couple of my friends have the kits on their civics. Decah doesn't have a prelude kit in development yet but are supposed to start on it soon. There's no welding, no cutting, no reinforcement. Installation is really easy. However, our prelude doors are a bit larger and heavier than the civic doors so it may be different for us.

i won that ebay thing on this and all it is is pics!!!!! consider doin this also, like someone said, it'll only look good if its not STOCK, it should look good wit my black widow kit and fender flares.......one bodyshop was goin to do it anoother way for me, almost like the lambo, but instead of the doors goin str8 up at an angle, they were goin to do the new lambo doors whereas the side of the door would be almost facin' up...i dunno its kinda hard to explain but i guess u'll see when u get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say go for it. it would be good for a stock body to a wild body. I'd appreciate not having to worry about door dinging and scraping. My doors sometimes scrape on the bottom as it is and it's not that low. This is a grea idea as long as you have the $$$.
