4th gen DASH creaking BADD!!! .. NEed SuGGEstionS!!!

Ok.. first of .. brief recent history of the car... 5 months ago... was in two accidents... got fixed up pretty good.. been driving fine since... although creaking noise was prominent in passenger side dash area when taking off in 1st gear... and when coming to a complete stop... this was pretty much the only time you could hear any creaking....

well .. I just put in H & R race springs (1.9front.. 1.6rear) ... and the ride is pretty good... nice and solid .. not too bouncy at all...

big problome is the WHOLE DASH CREAKS as if someone was wringing it out... noise is prominent now on any sudden acceleration... stop.... the slightest turns... bumps... ramps... I am definately assuming it is only DASH... I mean you can tell... 4th gen dashes are pretty flimsy to begin with...

What should I do... it's quite annoying... a friend suggested to put some sort of special foam around the edges all around.... another suggested checking every single bolt/screw and make sure it's tight.

Is this something I have to do on my own... or is there special shops that can fix it for me... and not for an arm and leg..

Please.. HELP ME>>

This is exactly what I did on my 96 after I got my Koni Shocks installed. It helps a whole lot but you still hear some creaking while turning hard (autocorssing).

I don't have a Helm's ... so I don't know what bolts to look for ... would appreciate any suggestion..

thanks

WORD!!!!

I would like to hear from someone that had this problem and fixed it, or at least made it much better.

ONE more thing.... since I put in my springs... I keep hearing a knocking noise from the trunk area... I am almost positive it is the Sparetire LID... (I think it's made of wood)... over every bump it lifts up and slams down... it only need a few milimeters play to be quite annoying.... I'm thinken putting like sponge or something around the edge of it... or somehow locking it in place ( I don't know how that would happen though )

so any insight would be pretty damn cool...

When you put the springs on in the back I had that same noise, so I cut the bump stop in half (a lil over half) and no more noise at all.

umm.. so you're saying it's NOT my sparetire Lid?? that the noise is because of the BumpStops..???

OR...

is it because of the BUMPSTOPS that the lid bounces so much making noise.... if so... fastening the lid down... or putting sponge around it so it makes no sound when hitting would solve problem to... no?

If the sound is sounding like it is near your suspension then it is the bump stop on the strut, cause when I would any type of bump it would make that sound, so I had a friend follow and listen as i hit a bump and that ended up being the problem

is it gonna result in more of a drop?

thanks.

No it won't drop you any.
It is really easy to do your self just get a razor/knife and cut in between the grooves on the bump stop. Also if it is the lid, then put some 3m tape around the edges and that stuff works really good.

and just to be absolutely clear.... I am not talking about the TRUNK LID.... but the SPARE tire Lid.

The 3m tape is very "cusy" and I know your talking about the spare tire lid.

OOPs sorry for the late response!! unfortunately I do not have any pics of y dash taken apart so I cannot tell you precisely where all the bolts are. On my lude I was hearing noises coming from the center console, the headliner area, the sunroof area and underneath the steering wheel/speedometer area .

I will provide you with some more detailed instructions once I get home! I'm at work right now and I'm kinda busy!
