4th Gen center arm rest

Hi people,

I am [hopefully] going to be getting one of those center console arm rests that doesn't extend all the way back to the rear seats, but it won't have the cup holder. Not that I ever have drinks in my car ('cause I don't), but how could I get a hold of the cupholder section?

I don't think hondaautomotiveparts.com has it as a seperate piece for sale....

E-bay if you're lucky, they're fairly rare from what I hear.

Yeah very hard to find. I guess the best place is ebay but, a lot of times, the ones on ebay come w/o the cup holder.

There's actually one on ebay right now, but alas, no cupholders...

That pic is for the 93 prelude and it came as an option package.
It looks like this when fitted

In my sig pic, the one on the left is the concept interior for the prelude and when it was actually designed is the one on the right.

Yeah, that's what I'm getting; I guess it's not so bad that I don't have the cupholder, it probably would have gotten in the way anyway....

hmm .. interesting.
What can you put in that console? how deep is it, and is the cup holder inside under the lid?

The cupholder is supposed to be inside that top section, but very rarely do they still have them in there (dunno what they do with them all..!?)

It doesn't look that deep, really; looks to be about four or five inches deep or so. When I get it, I'll let you know....

Got it today... man, Honda doesn't like people putting things in Preludes...

It's only about three inches deep; not much fits here except money and maybe a pair of sunglasses.

My only concern is I can't seem to find the stock hole where the armrest drills into. The hole that is on the armrest reaches below the center console itself, so if I drill through that hole, I'd be drilling into the frame of the car, and I'm not sure I want to do that yet. I'll have to remove the center console to see if I'd strike anything besides the frame if I drill...

I will say this, though: the object, as a simple arm rest, is really cool. Much more comfortable to be able to rest one's arm on it while driving. But for storage, this isn't very practical.

Just thought I'd share.

there's probably a metal bracket that screws in under the console, allowing you to bolt the armrest to it. this is the way the armrest for the 92 and 94-96 models work. pretty easy piece to leave behind if you don't know what you're doing.

yeah, thats how mine connects. Its not as solid a console as I'd like it to be but it holds my motion detector for the car alarm very well.

Hahaha... same here; I have CD's flying around in the trunk and in the door pockets.... I would care except they're al burned from MP3's, so I just burn another one if it gets too scratched....

thats nothing .. most of my cd's are mp3 cd's .. meaning 200songs on a disc

but burnt on 50cent CD's that I have backups for so ... its all good.

All mine are in books too though .. 50 under my seat, 50 under passenger seat, another 25 case behind my chair, plus however many i crammed into my visor holder

50 cent CDs? You got ripped off

I love the '92 console, it's a wonderful, wonderful thing. Unless you're sitting in the backseat, but that's not my problem. A cupholder would be nice, though. So I've decided that when I start fiberglassing my sub enclosure, I WILL find a way to fiberglass a cupholder into that console, most likely in place of that change-holder somehow.

Hehehe... nowadays it's like 10 cents per disc....

I would have gotten the 92, except every so often I do need to force someone to sit in the back seat, and that would make their lives even more uncomfortable... hehehe...
