4th Gen Cat-Back Exhaust...get what you pay for?

So I recently purchased a '93 4WS lude from my grandmother for the steep price of $1900. I say steep because the car has been driven in MI, and not stored in the winters. So it's body is suffering from all the salt/ wear & tear. She recently put on a bunk stock exhaust which has a broken baffle inside. So I've been looking at prices of new mufflers and stumbled across this ad. (Sorry if I should be posting this link, blame it on the newb factor)

It's on CL, and it's a generic cat-back for $130. Could you guys steer me in the right direction. Will I get what I pay for....this thing rusts out and falls apart in a year's time. Or do I snag it up because I need a muffler anyway...so what do I have to lose?

Thank you for your help in advance. And if it is a good deal, please let me snag it up

There was a cheap N1 style cat-back on my car when I bought it. It was awful.

first off, nice score on the super rare 4ws lude from granny!

u def get what u pay for.....i would stick with the better known brands. i have a greddy evo 2 catback on my lude (it was on there when i bought it) and i love it.

apexi is also good from what i hear...just stay away from that ebay crap

^Very bad idea. That's the one that was on my car when I bought it. Loud as hell, raspy, overly huge tip, poor build quality....it had ricer written all over it.

i got a a full exhaust.. headers, high flow cat, and cat back plus muffler of ebay for cheap.. bout $214 shipped i think.. its nothing special really but it has a deep tone cause the muffler is as long as the stock so its beefy but still lighter.. its all in stainless steel and i havent had any problems with it.. (knock on wood) its a bit of an upgrade cause its 2.5" piping instead of stock.. its a n1 style i suppose cause it does have a big tip but it doesnt stick out as far as the stock tips and is more flush with the bumper... but to each is own really... i did this cause i needed a new exhaust and didnt want to pay out the nose for name brand when im only going to have it untill i turbo cause ill be redoing the exhaust then... some perfer namebrand some go cheaper but with cheaper you may or may not have good luck.. the only thing im really worried about on what i bought is the gaskets.. but i can allways buy new ones as well

I probably saw the same one. A little over 100 shipped. I agree, you get what you pay for...and yet sometimes cheap makes more sense. Let me know if you purchase that N1 cat-back set-up. The good. The bad. And vice versa. But I just sank more than I really wanted to into this ol' 4WS essentials. But if I can squeeze it, I would like to get something to replace the stock exhaust for now ; that won't set me back 400 smackers.

I used to rock a megan full catback and it was a bit loud but made good power. I don't have clips of it but you can let youtube speak for the sound of the exhaust.

YouTube - 01 prelude w/ megan racing catback exhaust
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Gonna make a for sale thread on it.
