I don't even use my antenna anymore. I wish I could find a replacement antenna thats short stationary, like the s2000.

I ended up pushing it down all the way, then I turned on the radio later and the antenna tube snapped off of the motor in the trunk.
you were lucky then, I saw a mast and switch sell for over 100 bucks recently

2005, you'll have to replace the antenna and drive cable, but it might be cheaper and easier to find a working antenna motor assembly. What's probably happening is the teeth on the drive cable are worn and the gear inside the motor isn't gripping in certain areas.

go to a junkyard, just get a motor and mast from an accord or something, most parts are interchangeable from my experience

u can get a brand new OE mast for $20 on ebay.
i know this since i go thru masts about 1 every 6 months.
my reason is a bit better tho...i seem to grow a speed bend in my antenna's.
no im not kidding
see if u can bend an antenna into a perfect curve while on the car...no matter what i do i have to change the mast every 6 months or so, because of this bend that forms in it, since i set the cruise at 90MPH most days and have no prob taking the car to 135 when the situation calls...i assume the air at speed create's a perfect bend in the mast over time.
funny
but true

how much did they charge you to shave it?

I ordered an amplified internal antenna off ebay and i'm gonna mount that in my ceiling liner. I'll let you know how well it works next week

Isn't oiling/greasing the mast a bad thing for the motor? I remember reading that somewhere. At any rate, I would just replace the mast itself since it sounds like your motor is fine.

I did what others are suggesting...

... Pushed it down, disconnected the power to the motor, and got Sirius
