4g SI engine swap

i have a h23a and i am thinking about swapping to a VTEC. i would like to know if i can swap a 2000 5g lude engine in the 4g or would it be better to take like a 95 vtec lude engine? which engine would get the best performance?

What year is your car? In cali you have to put the same year engine or newer in your car to pass emissions. I think 95 and under you can find the engines with OBDI you're better off you'll get most out of your mods. The newer engines have OBDII, which don't respond to mods as well. So if you're looking for more go with an engine with OBDI if you have the right year.

I can't remember which year it started, but some (all?) 5g's have the "immobilizer" system that uses coded keys. You could probably figure out a way around it, but an older H22a is probably much less of a headache.

if you want to put a 5th gen engine you'll need a few parts from your H23 (VSS, distributor, fuel rail, injectors, wire harness) and you'll also need to get an OBD-I ECU from a 93-95 VTEC lude or I think you could get an ECU from an OBD-I Civic or Integra but I would recommend getting a Prelude ECU unless you want to get it modified by Hondata or something like that. I did that swap not long ago so if you got any question just ask me.
