ok I dont know what the deal is, but ive been trying for like 20 mins to get the #22 C clips off the assemlbly so I can install this shifter... THEY WILL NOT come off, ive been using a flathead....anyone know of an easier way to get these big clips off the shifter cables?? thanks please help asap.
yeah ... lol .. i feel like an a55hole cause i cant get these clips off, I'm gonna try doing it without..i have the unit detatched just not from the clips... what bolt, are you guys that didnt take the C clips off, talking about that is a pain?
BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO BEND THE CABLES TOO MUCH! If you even so much as crease the steel braided cable inside, it will shift weird. I highly suggest taking the clips off. I can post up how-to tomorrow if you really need me to.
Thats probably a good idea 4bidden. That was my only problem with my install when I kept emailing you. I didn't and still don't understand the way to take them off. I just gave up and installed it without removing them and was careful not to move the cables around.
When I did the install I unbolted the whole baseplate and it wasn't hard at all to lift the whole unit up and replace the shifter. It didnt put any noticeable stress on the cables when I did the install, and the shifting hasnt been negatively affected at all.
However, I only did this because I had trouble removing the clips.
yeah i gave up on it last night due to a bloody knuckle and it getting so late... would WD-40 help to make it a lil easier for those clips to come off? if not, can someone please post some more specific instructions.. I tried the hammer idea 4bidden but i guess the hammer i was using is too big to really get behind the dash.
I'll post a video on how to get them off later today. I am at school right now, give me about 3 hours to post the video. Dont WD40 it, it'll only make it harder.
i m goin to get on from youpretty soon 4bidden, so that vid will be nice.
