Hey guys need some serious help. I'm from Canada and have a 92 Prelude sr. I just blew my engine and i'm wondering what the heck a f 22 b engine is? is it the same as the h 23 A? is it a straight install? if not what is different. Need help Fast thanks!
Originally posted by ds2000 Check under your hood, on the passenger side (UK) towards the back there is a sticker which has your engine number on it, mine is an F20, its a 2.0i, I believe the the H22 are the 2.2 Vtec and H23 are the 2.3 Auto's, someone will correct me if I'm wrong!
Dave
h23 cant be 5speed as well....
umm i think the f22b came in the accord sir, if this is true then yeah it should fit.
I think the f22b is a SOHC VTEC from the Type R Accord. F-series engines (I think) are only SOHC's, correct me if I am wrong. There is an H23 VTEC that Honda Made, I think it came from an Accord wagon or something.

its an accord engine its vtech the heads are identical from f22a and f22b you can acutally do a head swap, from what i understand it has a little more hp then the f22a but im not sure about the direct swap possabilities but it seems ot me it would work fine, realize you'll need the vtech ecu... id reccomend just doing the h23 swap if money is a concern because its probally teh same price as a f22a or b, take care peace.
Whoa!! where in Canada are you? I'm pulling my old motor (F22) to swap in a H22A this weekend! If you need an inexpensive motor, I could sell you this one!! It has 127,000 KM and runs fantastic, I can verify the mileage and running cond, because it's still in the car (until tonight, that is!) Let me know ... depending on where you are, I could deliver it and save you some money..
Guys, I just got a F22B. It IS a DOHC Non-VTEC 2.2L from the Japanese Prelude Si/Sr. The horsepower peaks at 6k and it's a hell of alot more torquey all around. I like it. Hell, I get 37 mpg on the interstate. You can use the same tranny/ecu. I just don't know what the compression ratio is.
thanks, teaguy. it seemed to me like no one would believe me. But, the f22 is more torquey all around in my opinion. It's also lighter. but, you can tell the slight torque difference. i went to this high-performance shop and they said that there would be no prob finding parts. I am guessing maybe parts for the F22A??
