$3500...what would you do?

alright guys....ive got about $3500 to spend on my car and ive got a couple ideas that im thinking about. ive almost always been an all motor guy but let me know what would be possible with the amount of money i have....or i could save some more. so here are some ideas that i've had....

i currently have a 92 si with 157k miles

1) jdm h22 motor swap with either crower, webcam, or skunk2 cams when they come out

2) rebuild this motor completely and throw on a custom turbo

3) stuff in a jdm h23 vtec (227ps stock), which is obdII since it started production in 2000 and make it work with my obdI car

let me know what you guys would do. and NO, nos is not an option. =)

but with this motor having 157k miles im going to spend quite a bit getting it in new condition to handle the turbo so that would suck up quite a bit of the 3500 that i have

there's no jdm h23 vtec.....you can do it just like ls/vtec....put a vtec head on the h23...but then you have the reliability issues...you can get the parts ready...adn put a custom turbo...

I think the JDM H22 with transmission is your best bet. Look around the internet and you can find H22, tranny, everything, for $2000-$2500, and you'd still have "wiggle room" just in case there's an unexpected expense...

One of my friends bent a connecting rod in his USDM H22, and he put in a JDM H22. Even though it "only" has 10 more ft-lb of torque than a USDM, it feels WAY F*CKING faster. I blame the higher lift cams and 10.6:1 compression, and a very broad curve of torque...

If you like all motor, and reliability, I recommend the JDM H22. Rebuilding your engine and getting a turbo kit would most likely cost you as much or more than $3500.
If you do decide to get the JDM H22, have them yank it open and look at the pistons first, and maybe get piston rings replaced, because my friend's JDM burns oil.

would you rather get a jdm h22 with lsd or one of those with a jdm lsd tranny? the price difference would be $600. what would you take?

Price?
Is it an F series motor or an H series motor?
What is required for an OBDII motor in an OBDI car?

I think the DOHC one is a H series. To convert to OBD2 you need to hook up a bunch more sensors.

I know you have a lot of wiring problems putting a OBDI motor in an OBDII car, but I think its a lot easier the other way around. My friend was considering putting an OBDII GSR engine in his 92 civic, and he said he would have just had to use an OBDI ECU.

The Turbo option would net you the most HP but the engine rebuild would be really expensive and run you way over you $3500 price range.

Dropping the JDm h22 would give you enouph room for cams, upgraded ignition, and maybe some headers. giving you around 220bhp

that JDm accord motor sounds sweet but I'de need more info on it first

Hydraulic tranny, engine identical to USDM H22A except there's no chassis number stamped on it, runs kinda rich, and has 10.6 compression.

As for the H23 VTEC, I've seen it advertised in a magazine before, but it's absolutely shrouded in mystery. It probably has a bigger bore, but unless anybody reads Japanese...I'm guessing it's identical to the H22A4 except for bore.
