2WS Rear Ball Joint - Locating a replacement!
Hey there,
I've a happy Prelude VTEC owner and have been for the last 4 years, and currently have an SI-VTEC import with all the toys, which has been steadily modified over the years.
One of the things I did was remove the 4ws rear actuator at the back and replace it with a fixed rack as was getting the dreaded steering wobble, especially noticable at high speed. Once the 4ws had been replaced with a fixed 2ws rear rack the problem went and the car felt rock solid.
After doing a couple of track days, and noticing some steering play, I had a look and found that one of the ball joints on the rear rack has worn, allowing a noticable amount of play to the rear wheel. Now here's the problem: Honda can only replace the whole rear arm, at a cost of £250+the VAT, and I can't find a motorfactors who stock these.
After looking at the parts available for a honda prelude MkIII, I can buy a part that LOOKS the same as the balljoint that I'm after, and which bolts onto the rear arm, and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how did they solve it? Does the MKIII part fit? Is there another way around the problem?
Many thanks,
Woody.
