1st gear is extra slow

I just recently bought my car a month ago, its pretty old 130k mi, and I find that starting at 1st gear from stop is really slow. My rpms go high and the car goes at a crawl, then 2nd gear on pulls pretty nice.

Anybody knows what is wrong?

time for a new clutch. when the rpm's go up and your speed doesn't, it means the clutch is worn out.

So what made you think bringing back a post from 7 years ago would help?

Step 1: Revive 7 year old post
Step 2: ....
Step 3: PROFIT!

It makes perfect sense.

I know a little while back my car was draggin in first gear a little bit. It was because I had a broken knock sensor. It might not be the problem, but it's worth taking a few minutes to get under the car and check. If it is broken it could advance/retard your timing and just might be the problem. Just in case, it's under the Intake Manifold on the back of the block

i actualy had my knock sensor replaced in spring 08 lol when it threw a cel.. hey if my cat was bad in my 93 then would it throw a cel? cuz my car seems to run fine on the freeway and when i get off for the 1st few miles... im thinking on the freeway all the debris is stuck to the sidewalls? and then loosens and falls and clogs? not sure...
