1996 prelude???

ok, i have had my doubts about getting a 96 honda prelude because of the obd II. on the other hand, wouldnt that not make a difference if i am to swap in a h22a JDM motor into it? would be nice to have a newer car, but dont like the whole obd II idea. thanks

It depends on how much U plan on modding the car.

If you plan on a ton of mods then your fears may be well founded.

If not then OBD II is good, its more advanced, and is more powerfull.

If you do end up getting a '96, you can always do the OBDII workaround....

how exactly is it more powerful? It's simply an updated on-board diagnostic system with, dare I say, a slightly more stringent emissions control.

I don't seem to have a prob with my 96 lude. If your engine light is on of course your gonna fail. Also I see if you mod it alot you will have probs, I just don't understand. Wouldn't change it for any other year.

just get a 95 then. 1yr isn't that big of a difference. i would actually prefer to get a 94 vtec. a lil older which means it will be cheaper.

- OBDI USDM distributor
- screwing around with the wiring harness
- OBDII -> OBDI conversion harness
- OBDI p13 ecu

I have a 96, didn't stop me from modifying it...or running a 14.80 stock...

plus if you want to swap...you can easily put an H22A4 in there..I just put together a 96 VTEC for my brother with a 1998 H22A4 with 70,000 miles

^^yesss, OBD2 is not just like a little mouse on a spinning wheel controlling some extra functions, it's a widdle bit more complex.
