1993 custom center console

Hi everyone, i am new to the forum and i have been working on an audio project recently for my senior project. in the midst of all the napkin drawings of kick panel enclosures and trying to figure out how to fiberglass i decided to fix my pet peeve that was the center console of the 1993 model. the problem that i saw was that the console was
1) a total waste of space and merely a grotesque parking brake box
2) i dont even use the cigarette lighter
3) i dont use the ashtray
and
4)...its just fugly.

the 1994+ model did a decent job at fixing this problem but i didnt really want to buy a 150$ + console and i didnt really like the look of that either (yes i am picky). also, i am a junior in high school and dont really want to pay the arm and leg required to have a pro do it, so not knowing at all what i was getting into, i decided to do it myself. so after the initial sketchup designs and gathering ideas for a new look i talked to a professional who by change happens to be my friends uncle and has done interiors for celebrities like jay Leno and he agreed to help if i ran into any roadblocks ( which would inevitably appear). so i began work on fabricating the center compartment and all that, pictures say more than i want to type right now so:

i really liked the BMW cs Concept interior and how it flowed, so thats what i based my design off of

this is the plastic OEM console with Thick cardboard wrapped around it

this is the frame that will be mounted about 5 cm above console for the compartment

so i kind of had a camera failure in the middle of work , so after the frame was mounted, and the supports and all that fun stuff was put in, i shredded the OEM console (which will serve as a base to bolt onto the car chassis) and wrapped the whole thing in fleece:

in the middle of soaking the fleece in laminating resin

the 100 nasty pins used to adhere the fleece to the contours of the cardboard

with resin dry, i outlined the place where the carbon fiber plate will sit, along with the hazard flasher button thing will go, and the other misc buttons.

thats all the work i have dont up untill now, however i cant proceed to fiberglass the entire thing and do the foam and vinyl wrapping until i get the parking brake cut and welded as well as the hole for it cut into the console this weekend. i will post pictures and stuff once i get more work done, but until then, any advise, critisism would help

pics of the ebrake moving:

and the fiberglassing of the upper console:

after fiberglassing and trimming:

and so the entire console is not black vinyl, i decided to add silver stitching on the OEM boot

bondo on the lower console with the ebrake hole cut:

OK so i got everything pretty much all sanded and stuff, but now i need to do some fine sanding and get it covered in foam mat, then i will post more pics
