1992 SI 2.3 How to Change Plugs?

I've bought new plugs to put in my daughters 1992 SI. I've never worked on the 2.3 engine before (or a DOHC of any kind). Is there anything special needed to access the plugs? I have a spark plug socket of the right size, should I just be able to put it on an extension down the access tube?

Thanks

Ray

It's the same. Just don't misthread or over-torque them.

thast all that you should need....

when I install spark plugs.. sometimes... the spark plug socket gets stuck w/ the spark plug.. so what I do is when installing the spark plug.. I put about 2 full turns using the spark plug socket... and then I take out that socket.. and use a regular socket to tighten it the rest of the way.... this is just a heads up if you happen to run into the same situation...

I always just loose the plug, then use the wire to pull the plug out. Putting them back in i put a piece of electrical tape mostly on the socket and a little on the plug to hold it in the socket and screw it in by fingers with the extention till tight, then am 1/8th of a turn.

when threading the plugs make sure you turn them by hand. The theads are really easy to cross thread.

Anyone know the torque specs for the plugs? I've been poking around the internet but can't find that value.

Thanks

A locking extension from Craftsman is handy to keep from losing the socket. When you replace the boot, they can be a tight fit, make sure the connector "clicks" and makes good contact on the plug up in the boot.
