hey can anyone tell me what is the ideal offset i should use if i want to put 19x8.5 rims on my 4th gen.? ill have 35series on the rims..... please help.
my friend had 18s on his they were i belive 18x8 and he rubbed like a mother had to roll his fenders and he still rubbed on the indisde
I have to agree with slipknot- I know of 4 people who tried to run 18's and had nothing but trouble. 3 of the 4 knew each other, so they tried different ride heights, offsets, different wheel widths and tire sizes. They also tried stuff like rolling the fender lips, trimming the wheelwell liner and other ideas, but it never stopped the rubbing from happening somewhere.

for real? i currently have 18x8.5 no problem, no fender rolling no rubs, nothing. stock height though. so you think any offset with 19x8.5 will work? i hope so.

If you're at stock height thats why you are not rubbing. I'm almost sure your wheels are sticking out past the fender. If you take a hard enough turn you'll rub. Don't even think about lowering. If you get too high of an offset you'll rub on the inside.

I offered my 2 cents on the subject. Mainly the reason why you didn't get a straight answer is because no one is running 19s on their 4th gen.
Go ahead and post the picture. After you do just wait and see what comments you get then.

Nobody here is a hater, but that's what this forum is about- asking questions about different types of mods and learning what works and what doesn't from other peoples knowledge/ experience/ mistakes. You're always going to have people who have opinions, but they also wouldn't want you to go out and spend a lot of money on a modification that may not work for you. If you don't like what you hear, you are free to go out and do what you want, since it's your ride.
If I was in your shoes right now I would put a lot of weight in the forum's info because a lot of members here have valuable knowledge or experiences in what works and what doesn't. With the feedback on this thread so far, running on 19s might not be the optimum wheel size to work on a 4th gen. Prelude you plan to drive in the real world- maybe sitting still they'll work though...
Once you buy and mount those wheels/tires you can't just pack them up and ship them back if they end up rubbing, and then you blew a wad of cash. The other members are not haters, but if they had an idea of a modification they wanted to try and they wanted to draw on the knowledge of other Prelude owners, they would want honest answers, even if it may end up blowing their idea out of the water. A "thumbs down" response to your post by other members doesn't make them all haters. Hey, if you are serious about putting a set of 19s on your 'Lude and make it work in real-world driving with no clearance issues, do it and then come back and prove us all wrong. Good Luck!

I don't think anyone here will recommend 19's. I suggest taking some measurements and doing some math of your own.
But personally, I don't think the Prelude is a big enough car for even 18's to look right, much less 19's. And the performance disadvantage won't be insignificant either - you'll handle worse, brake worse, and be slower.
