188K Exhaust system

So the 92S Lude has a small hole in one of the pipe sections(between cat and Muffler)
The muffler is looking a bit beat too.
with 188,000 on it, go figure

I'm guessing that it's the original Cat on there. How long do those things normally last???

Wondering if maybe I should go ahead and bite the bullet and replace the cat as well

A new aftermarket muffler installed is 140ish. which is just a plan old oem something or another, from local muffler guy.Hmmm, wonder of meineke would be any less.

I know lower flow would help engine breath a bit.
It's my DD, stock engine, K&N stock filter.
If I replaced just the muffler, would something like vibrant\flowmaster be any good\better than stock or would it be a waste.

I don't want loud or raspy but a nice deep something would be good

CAT's can last anywhere from 100,000-200,000 miles, just depends on the driving style, road conditions, weather etc.

Since it's an S type I'd just go to a local muffler shop and have them weld on a new Catalytic converter. If you're wanting to replace your muffler/cat back that's up to you. An aftermarket exhaust can usually be better for easier flow, but with it being an S you you won't notice much of a difference besides sound, maybe a couple hp increase.
