112 Octane?

Ok, my friend got some racing fuel from the raceway thats 112 octane...I thought, hey...I got a jdm h22a. they run high octane, lets try it out. As we're pouring it in from the bucket, I see out of the corner of my eye..a warning, do not use on car with catalytic converter. Great, I only threw in a gallon or so before i saw it. Potential effects are???

YOU MELT THE CAT!!!! It gets so hot it well melt and you need a new cat then. Drain the gas, dont try to run it... you might be able to deluete it.... but even thats risky.

oh, yeah... I almost forgot.... a gas station by my house sells race gas (right out of the pump too... pretty phat). My frined filled up his ford f-250 v-8 with it and totally f'upd his truck. It screwed up some engine internals too. plus the cat was shot, along with a nice chunk of his custom exust. High Octane=High Heat

Its not that bad, I run 100 oct at the races, and have had no problems. Super street had an article about mixing octains and ending up with a new value (like 1 gal. of 100 and 3 gal. of 92 will get you 94.2 octain). Maybe if you dilute it with like 87 oct. you should be fine, I dont think you cats in any danger.

If you only put a gallon in you should be fine, jap fuel is 100 oct so diluted with normal gas your oct levels shouldnt be much over that.

110 well melt your cat for sure if its pure! However, if you ran it was a full tank of 93. You should be ok for a little bit, but I would drain the gas or find some 85 octine gas.

Same thing goes for those fuel injector cleaners and those other things you mix with your fuel. They are ment to be mixed with 15+ gals of 87. Never run your tain very low and pour one of those things in.

Your cat is probally gone, if you ran pure (or close to pure) 110, its probally ok if you ran less then 103.

You people are retarded sometimes, you know that? LOL

I've run 114, and even 118 when I had my cat installed... wanna know the only reason you aren't supposed to run it?:
Cause it's leaded. Run your 112 and don't worry a thing about it, your car will be fine.

Any octane leaded fuel will destroy the cat.

Its as easy as that.

Most race gas is unleaded, until you go over about 115 octane, then they use lead to boost the knock resistance cause real race cars don't have emmissions requirments, and obviously no cat to worry about.

Stick to unleaded fuel and you won' t have any problems.

That would probably throw an engine code wouldnt it? And are we still talking about 1 gallon of 112 octane, or something more?
